My week so far has been amazing. I am so grateful for all the opportunties that Heavenly Father has given me to grow. This week, we had an impecable mission tour, it was amazing. This mission is just getting better and better, day by day, second by second. President Chan and Sister Chan are some of the most intune people I have ever seen. They are both born and raised here in Hong Kong, growing up speaking Cantonese and living the chinese culture. They are now in charge of the mission, that is of many different nationalities and of many that come from a mother language of enlgish. President and Sister Chans english may not be the best, they may not speak the most fluently, but i tell you they are truely called of god to serve over the hong kong mission at this time. I have seen and still see to this day the power of tongues working in their lives as they give their all to the lord to serve us missionaries and the thousands of different other ethnicites here in hong kong. The gift of tongues can be given to all of us, and it doesnt havent to be through the words we speak but it can also be through the emotions we express and how we go about doing it. It can be a simple smile and a great hug. Or just the simple look of your body language showing that you are interested and trying your best to understand that persons situation. The gift of tongues is also a power of love. As we walk on the streets day after day, we do our best to share this message with everyone, some days our cantonese or mandrin isnt good enough ( haha sometime my english isnt even good enough ) and they just dont understand what in the world we are trying to say, but the amazing this is, when we show it in our face, and in our body language that we truely love our father in heaven, when we are happy and smiling though matter what, and giving it our all, acting as if this man or women might die tomorrow and giving them the gospel as if it were there last day, they will come to feel the saviors love and more importantly they will feel the gift of the holy ghost. Missionary work is so unquie and so amazing. i love it so much. Right now i dont want to talk to you about any of our investigators but i want to talk about my buddy william, william is in a family of 4, his mom, dad, and little brother. He got baptized at the age of 8 with both of his parents and his brother at the time wasnt old enough. One month after they all got baptized they were offened and havent been to church for 10 years now. About 2 months ago i found his record under my bed. It was a picture from their baptism and it had their address on the back. Two cute little boys and their parents, i felt i had to find them, this was one of the reason heavenly father has put me in this area. I prayed that night asking our father in heaven to give me an opportunity to find william and eventually bring the whole family back home again. The next day we set out, no one was at home, this happened for a week or two, finally, we were finding one day, and most of the time we talk to the younger teenage young men here in hong kong, they love talking to us, and just think its so rad we speak chinese and play soccer and can use chop stix haha, as we were finding a ran into this boy and what was his name.... william... i thought to myself could it be him, and the spirit told me his full chinese name, so i asked him if that was his name it was! he was in a rush and remembered nothign about his baptism or anything about church. he is now 18 years old and finishing up his last year in school, he is pretty shy but a very smart young man. We have been working with him since that day, we see him multiple times a week and he now is fully active in the church, he called me last night and said elder right do you remember when you shared with me and serving a mission, well i prayed about it and i want to go, so he will be starting his papers this week. We will be having our first visit with his whole family this sunday, and hope we can bring them all back( way shortened due to time and my crazy mom that wont stop emailing me haha) . At some time or another we will all be offened by another member of our church, decide today if what that person says to you, will keep you from returning to your father in heaven or make you break the convenants you have promised him you would keep forever. Decide today if you are going to follow him or satan. there is no middle ground. i want to tell you more of the story but i just dont have time, long story short, he told us the day we found him he was going to commit sucide but when we saw him he felt something and the spirit told him see them one more time and than you can do as you want, so he did, william said to me last night as we were playing soccer, elder wright i lvoe you, you saved my life through the powers of heaven and i am forever in debt to you and now its my turn to give back to the lord for 2 years, thank you for being worthy and saving my life, as i talked his mom last night after him she came to the phone bawling telling me the change that she has seen in him. This gospel changes lives. let it change yours. like joan, what more can you sacrafice in your life to come closer to him, it may not needs be your family country and freedom, maybe just cleaner thoughts, daily reading of the bom, simple steps is all it takes. i love you linds keep up the great work! lauren keep smiling youll be here before you know it. mom and dad, i lvoe you guys. stop worrying all is okay! smile~!elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-9127834439732268202011-11-03T07:27:00.001-07:002011-11-03T07:27:06.486-07:00Words of Great Wisdom from Elder Wright....DEAR FRIENDS OF ELDER WRIGHT,
I REALIZE THIS IS A LONG EMAIL MY SON HAS WRITTEN. She came to Hong Kong with a dream, a goal set. She came here to support her children, to save enough money for each of them to be able to have the education she didn't have, so they would not have to continue to live the way they did. Not thinking of herself, she left the phillipines, leaveing it all behind, her family, friends, culture, freedom, and two children with tears in their eyes wonder, " if they will ever see mommy again." As they departed her motivation to conqueror these goals was stronger than ever. She talked to her children for the first few months in Hong Kong via skype once a month on her only day off, always with a prayer goodbye asking that, " God would keep them safe until the next time." As time went on Sister Joan lost sight of these goals, made friends and entered into the temptations of the world. On her holidays she was no long going to the local computer lounge to chat with her kids, but to boarding houses and bars, gambling and drinking all of her savings away. She found happiness in this because its all she had and knew she could have. She was so far away from home, she did not have her family and friends to guide her and remind her along her way. On September 25, 2011 she has a holiday, so she got in a taxi and was going to meet up with her "chika chikas " to go to the boarding house to play cards ( gamble ), by this time its been a few months, and shes getting good, starting to win, with a smile on her face and thrilled to go dominate she got out of her taxi at "World Wide" to transfer and get on the train to go more south to meet up with everyone. But before she made it to the train an obnoxious big white guy, name tag and all stopped her, asking her, probing, but yet inspirirational questions, she kindly declinded telling him she was not interested. After 20 minutes of talking and bearing testimony and invites to go to church ( because it was about to start in one hour ), this missionary finally concludes by saying a simple but yet to her, powerful phrase, " Sister God knows who you are and where you are going,Hhe is always watching you, and is very aware of you, YOU are his daughter." And she went on her way to find her friends and hit the bars. After 20 minutes, I came around the corner to find Sister Joan waiting for me, she said, " Elder I'm ready to have a tour of your church, you told me that God was watching me, you really scared me, lets go please." We got on the train system and headed back. Myself, my companion, and Sister Mary ( the most powerful phillipina member here in hong kong ). We walked in the church and went up to the first floor chapel where we sing and partake of the sacrament, explaining this room to her and all that we do and what the sacrament repersents,Ii had a feeling to sing " I am a child of God" to her. Which is kind of weird to do with just us singing. I ignored it and put it aside, but yet it came again even stronger than before. So I asked if we could sing her a song, as we sang this childrens primary song, tears ran down her face, she could feel the love of Christ and Heavenly Father in her life. She felt the spirit testify to her that she has made it home again, and that she was truely a daughter of God and he loved her. This helped remind her why she came to Hong Kong, remembering her children, friends, family, and goals that she had set. She eventually listened to all of the lessons and last sunday she came unto the waters of baptism and is now the newest member of the island second ward. She texted me this week, and said, " Elder wright, God put you into my life for a reason, you helped remind me of my life ambitions, and goals, you not only helped me come unto Christ, but you helped my family, today at work was honestly the first day I went to work with a smile on my face knowing I too can have an eternal family, you gave this to me, thank you." This brings great joy to me, to see that through the atonement she was forgiven of her sins because she was willing to stop her bad habits, and humble herself and repent. Daily repentance is key to daily happiness. If we aren't repenting every second of every day, than we will never be able to recieve that eternal happiness God wants us to feel in this life. We don't need to be on our knees to repent daily, but we can always just have that constant prayer in our hearts asking for forgiveness and having a desire to change. The church has over 52,000 full time missionaries serving around the world. Preach my gospel has helped us become better teachers, to find needs, resolve concerns, and find more effective ways to teach our brothers and sisters. We are the best of the best. Unfortunately most of us full time missionaries spend most of our time, trying to find people to teach rather than doing teaching itself. I view all the full time missionaries as an underutilized teaching resource. If you and all members did more of the finding for all the full time missionaries and freed them up to spend more time teaching the people we find, great things would begin to happen. We are missing a golden opportunity to grow the church when we wait for the missionaries to warn our neighbors and brothers and sister, instead of doing it ourself. It should be with great earnestness that we bring the light of the gospel to those who are searching for answers the plan of salvation has to offer. Many are concerned for their families. Some are looking for security in a world of changing values ( sister joan ). Our opportunity is to give them hope and courage and to invite all them to come with us and join those who embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lords Gospel is on the earth and will bless their lives here and in the eternities to come. The gospel is centered on the atonement of our Lord and Savior. The atonement provides the power to wash away all sins, to heal, and to grant eternal life. All the imponderable blessings of the atonement can be given only to those who live the principles and receive the ordinances of the gospel, - faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Our great missionary message to the world, to everyone, us included, is to be invited to be rescued and to enter the fold of the good shepered, even Jesus Christ. He isn't asking much of us, if we truely know that this message, this church, our prophet, the book of mormon is true, then nothing should be holding us back to share this with everyone. If you know these things are true then you would be doing all you could to share it with the world to hear. It's up to you. Member support is needed, we need you members, the work is so much more effective when you are involved. Please help us, thats not only from me, but from our Father in Heaven, you covenanted with Him, you would be a missionary, you would fight the war, you have a tag inside your heart, you have the light of Chirst, you have this gospel, share it, be who he needs you to be, " He is watching you." Lindsay have fun, jersey is so lucky to recieve such an amazing servant of the lord. YOU ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST AND NEVER DOUBT THAT> FIND THOSE THAT ARE WAITING FOR YOU< TALK TO EVERYONE. Love you all. Smile to change lives. Smile because you are a Child of God. Repentance and prayer are the key to a happy day, start each and everyday with these two things and continue to do them through out the day and you will be happier than you ever have beeen.!!! Prayers have been answered, investigators are slowly progressing, the area is starting to pick up, thousands of miracles, and an opportunity to serve the Lord with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. I have been able to loose myself even deeper into the work and it has brought so many blessings to everyone. Of course when we have all these great blessings in our lives, we are bound to have trials, challenges, unresolveable questions, and hard times.. but we tend not to focus on those when there are bigger and better things to focus on... such as ways you can help your brother or sister, heavenly fathers sons/daughters, continue to progress so that one day they too can return to his presence and live with their families for eternities, or ways that you can serve your companion or ward members, ways you can bring the lost sheep back unto the fold, or ways you can strengthen your own testimony! As the world gets more and more corrupt we sometimes loose our way, not knowing where we need to go, whats our next step, how do we keep going with all thats upon my shoulders, and we come to ask, is any one going to help me? You may feel like you are alone, and nothing is going your way, and you just don't understand why, because you are keeping the commandments, you are doing all that you can to follow in our Saviors footsteps, but yet so much is going wrong. You may come to ask why? I know that has been a question in my mind this past week. I have come to ask why, why Heavenly Father, why did you give me this trial? But what I came to learn, yet again, is we are never in the right to ask him why? We need to ask, Heavenly Father, what can I learn from these hard times, can you give me more patience to overcome and come to find out for myself why you have given my such trials? I learned when I asked these questions to myself and my Father in Heaven he did answer me and he answered through the most odd ways, through investigators, through street advertisments, and so many other ways. I promise you, if you take time in your daily busy schedules, and just ponder what He has given you at the end of each day, you will come to see the blessings and miracles of everyday. You will go to bed knowing that your Father in Heaven is aware of you and is concerned about you. He knows who you are. He knows your desires and ambitions. I still haven't heard conference yet, due to the fact that I was teaching lessons all day, so I'm still looking forward to watching and listening to it. Conference is very special to me, and I really just can't wait to hear what the Lord has in store for me to hear and do. Conference is a time to change, It is time to become better, time to find ways to become who He wants us to become so we can continue onward on the iron rod. Recently I have read a lot of talks about Lehis Dream, I have read it in the Book of Mormon several times and come to really understand it. There have been articles about it in the past 4 liahonnas, and they talked about it several times last conference. I encourage you all to read it, I commit you all to read it, find out where you are, and where you want to be going and don't just " cling onto it " but " continue pressing forward " reach that tree and don't be ashamed, never doubt. Keep smiling and loving life!
To my sister that is going into the mtc this coming week! Are you excited? Nervous? Just about every feeling you could possibly have all in one, that makes you want to vomit, cry, laugh, scream, and just pass out? Well, let me tell you, thats normal. Haha, the first few days there are hard for everyone, but just believe what every one tells you, JUST WAIT UNTIL SUNDAY, the mtc is amazing, if you go into it with a positive attitude you will absolutly love your time there, you will grow so much, and you wont want to leave, if you think you are going into a prison then thats exactly what it will feel like. It's all about the attitude. You are going to be the most amazing missionary ever, Jersey doesn't know whats about to happen. They are in for the shock of their life. Remember that He calls upon the weak, despised and unlearned to go from nation to nation and thrash them with his spirit. It's up to you to thrash. Companions they can be hard, but like the mtc, its all about your attitude. If you are positive, then you will just have to most amazing mission ever. Go into the field with the smile on your face and come out with the same smile. YOU Lindsay are a Daughter of God and He has a brilliant plan for you and just you. There are so many that need to hear your testimony, share it with everyone. Be who He needs you to be!!. I love you so much and am so grateful for your example to me, you really will be the best missionary. Sister Wright, we both have the name tags now and it's up to us to thrash the nations! Love you Sister Wright, keep smiling and loving every second of every day. Love Elder Wright. He calls and he qualifies. Love you! Sometimes a missionary will tell me, " I have had just a miserable day. Everything has gone wrong, and I am discouraged. It just isn't going to go right. I feel very depressed." Should that be you, I would say, " Well, I am glad to hear that. At least I know you are normal.! DId you know its not either normal or healthy to be on cloud 9 all of the time?" -Elder Packer

Some would say that I ( elder wright ) am happy and on cloud 9 all of the time, but this week has showed to me that I am compleltly "normal," haha. It has been a long week here in West Point. Walking 6-10 miles a day, on the streets for 9 hours straight with no chance to have a break, sweating from every pore, in 100% humity, and maybe if we are lucky by the end of the day having a chance to talk to 1 person ( not always positive ). This definitely will get old really fast. But on monday as I was walking, a familiar story came into my head, and as I walked on the streets I just died of laughter. I was thinking of one of my favorite talks. I want to share a part with you now, that helps me to keep going, each and every day of my life. " Have you ever seen an angry driver who, when someone else makes a mistake, reacts as though that person has insulted his honor, his family, his dog, and his ancestors all the way back to adam? Or have you had an encounter with the overhanging cupboard door left open at the wrong place and the wrong time which has been cursed, condemned, and avenged by a sore headed victim? THERE IS AN ANTIDOTE FOR TIMES SUCH AS THESE: LEARN TO LAUGH. The next time you're tempted to groan, you might try to laugh instead. It will extend your life and make the lives of all those around you more enjoyable!" -Elder Wirthling. So lets recap a few incidents in which I had to use this fantastic antidote in my life this week. 1. Lets start with monday, we had district meeting from 1130-1230 and than Elder Chang and I had finding planned for the rest of the day. That means we would be walking the streets for at least 9 hours. Well, the end of the day came and we had a great day, then I thought I would talk to one last person before I went in for the night, try and give him his salvation and what not. Well, instead he gave me his cup of boiling hot coffee which indeed stained my suit ruining it. laughed. 2. Going up to my previous area of service trying to help those missionaries recover recent investigators that have left since I left. We had a lesson with me and the new missionary, well the investigator, my best friend, called me that night and said he will never in his life see that missionary again. Laughed. ( broke my heart but I know Heavenly Father has a plan for him. Right now I am not sure what it is, nor is he ) 3. We had a typhoon this week and were locked in our houses for a full 24 hours, no food, no water, laughed 4. I was walking down the stairs as we were finding in my last suit that I owned. Slipped and ripped the pants all the way from the crouch down to the ankle, that was a fun hour walk home, laughed. 5. A man thought it would be funny to spit in my face, laughed 6. We were contacting a lady who is from Hong Kong. I'm talking chinese and she says in chinese, " I don't understand english. " Well mam I'm speaking chinese! LAUGHED. Those are just a few of the many incidents I had an opportunity to use this antidote in my life and I'm so grateful for it. The joys of a mission. These are all perfect moments that I had an opportunity to grow close rto many h.f., because I could have reacted in so many different ways, but where would that have got me? This journey out here is an emotional rollar coaster and I am so grateful for it. Through each and every trial, we are able to learn so much and continue onward on the path of righteousness to return to our Father in Heaven again. A mission is the most rewarding thing, yes, there is a lot of trials and hard times, but when you focus on the blessings of a mission its then that you will start to love your time out in the field. When you truely love the people with all your heart and are willing to do anything for them, it's then that you are fulfulling your purpose as a representative of christ.

" I thnk a friend is someone who will alays be around you whenever you face challenges and difficulties in your life, to give you a hand and being sincere and trust each other anytime" -19 years old
" I thnk a friend is a kind of support, there will have so many happen in everyones life and can share the things with friend no matter happy or unhappy" -45 years old
" friend means to me he or she will be nice to you and want to stay with you through thick and thin, no matter what happens, they will love sharing their feelings with you and you with them" -22 years old
"I think real friends understand peoples situations, they trust each other. They are like family outside of the homes, to me sometimes friends are one way Jesus Christ will show his love to us because no body can survive in this tough world with out family but because we don't always have families Heavenly Father will put friends in our paths as we go to work, church, and school. Its just one way Christ shows his love for us." -17 years old
"Somebody you treat like family" - 19 years old
"Friends mean the world to me, really. Sometimes like family. I feel so relaxed and comfortable with him or her. No need to pretend. ALways so friendly towards each other. I can do what I want to do and say what I want to say and he or she will always support and love me. They wont ever judge or critize me or my opinions. We really love each other and we both know it. We are always there for each other." -21 years old
"The ultimate friend to me is Jesus Christ " - 6 years old
DnC 121: Thy friend will stand by thy side
Ex 33:11 Lord spoke unto moses...as a man speaketh to his friend
Job 42:10 pray ye for your friends ( pray ye for your enemies for one day they will be your best friends )
Proverbs 17:17 friend loveth at all times
27:17 Iron sharpenth an iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend
John 15:13 That a man layeth down his own life for his friend
What are you willing to do for your friends? I was given a chance to do a sharing on friends.. so I asked a few of my friends and above are the answers that I have recieved. What does it really take to convert our investigators, friends, families, loved ones, collegaues, class mates, and people we see as we walk on the streets? Of course the gift of the holy ghost, without we can not do anything and there will be no conversion. But how can we make them feel more comfortavle so they can feel the holy ghost easier, faster and stronger? Through our relationship with them... they are not just numbers to us as missionaries, they are our best friends from the pre-exsistance! They are waiting for us to find them again. These are our best friends and Heavenly Father is and has been preparing them for a long time. When we see them, we need to do the best we can to help them remember us, one way is through sharing our testimonies with them because it will bring all unto their remembrance. Through our testimonies they will hear bit and pieces of their own testimonies they once had and still have! Friends are so important in this world. As a missionary I have come to realize the importance of friendship. A lot of missionaries come out into the field and want to get the highest numbers, set records, and beat everyone elses numbers. I have come to find out for myself thats a bunch of bull crap. That is not why we are here. We are here to find our best friends, to love and support them through their lives. Sometimes, they don't need to be taught the gospel day after day, sometimes all they need is your example. Sometimes all they need is your friendship. Thats where conversion starts with some people. Everyone is different but as I was flipping through the childrens hymn book I came across a song, I'm not sure the melody or tune of it but the lyrics hit me. I will share them with you now. "1. I'm much to young to go abroad to teach and preach the word of god, but I can show I know it's true, quite simply by the things I do. 2. The people in my neighborhood will judge the gospel bad or good by how I act at work and play, and not just on the sabbath day. 3. I'll take my friend to church with me, where I will act with dignity, my revrence and my happy face will tell him its a sacred place. 4. In EVERYTHING I do he'll see I am what I profess to be, Then when the elders find his door, he ll say " come in and tell me more. We have just been having a blast in this new area, but we have had our challenges. Coming into this area, the previous elders did not have any investigators, or recent converts, or less actives that they were actively visiting and teaching, so I knew that Elder Chang and I had our work cut out for us. West Point is a very special place, a lot of construction, thousands of high rises and billions of people, as well as, all these great worldly features. This place has had a horrible reputation for missionary work. When I got told I was moving here, many said, " oh good luck Elder Wright, that place hasn't had success for a long time ." " that ward is awful and doesn't help with the work at all. " Many other negative things about the area, and every single time I heard that, it just put a huge smile on my face because I knew the Lord sent me to this area to change what everyone thinks of it. To involve the ward in everything, to develop a strong relationship with them, to find investigators to teach, to bring less actives back unto the fold once again, and to make this place have a nice little ring to it when others get called to serve here! We will be having a baptism for a young man named Benjamin next week, and he is so excited. Benjamin is special, he did research on the church, and found out for himself that it was true through our church online website and other articles and then came to the church and found us missionaries. That shows to me that the Lord is always preparing people, and then on the other hand, other people need to be prepared and thats my job. I have recently come to the conculsion while talking to other missionaries and friends, that the key to missionary work is the members. We can find all day, knock on doors for hours, make calls day and night, and of course we will find little success, but the real work starts when members start doing the work and inviting us to become a part of their friends conversion. Prophets for generations now have said that missionary work is NOT effective unless the members are invovled in the work. Are you involved in the work? Since realizing that the last few months of my mission, I have made a goal to visit and talk with, be friends with, every member in my ward. I did that in my last three areas and great success came from it, and it was so easy to schedule the members and I thought it would be just as easy here in this new area, haha boy was I humbled. They would say, " elders we will see you on sunday and that shall be enough for us. " Same thing call after call, finally we got to the point where we just dropped to our knees and fasted with the Lord, to find a way that we could get to know our new members and friends. The next day we called again, and since that day we have visited over 15 families and have 6 more families to go! Miracles! We have had several referrals and made some great new friends! This area is changing slowly, but its changing. A normal day for us right now is to wake up do exercises, studies, and than from 1130am-10pm we are contacting ( walking down and up the streets ) the days are long, hot, and at times we want to give up, but a talk always comes into my head whenever I think I have it too tough. That talk is from a recent conference talk from President Eyering, he talks about a time in his life when he was sad and discouraged and wanted to give up and them he thought about the savior and what he did for all of us, and the words came to his mind, " REMEMBER HIM "... wow, it gets me every time. He could have given up so easily and yet he didn't and nor shall we. There is never a circumstance in which we need to give up, as hard as things get, and as sad or as discouraged as you get, you can never give up. The Lord knows exactly how you are feeling at all times, just talk to him and have the paitence he needs you to have to overcome this trial or hard time. The work is great and how blessed am I am to be here in hong kong today. I never want to leave. my time is going by too fast. I love it here and all my new best friends I have made. I am so glad Heavenly Father gave me this chance to meet them again, because I know they were my best friends in the pre exsitance and they've been waiting for me to find them again and I've been waiting for them. I love you all and remember Alma 13:24. " Your smile might be the closest thing that someone will feel of the saviors love " SMILE TO CHANGE LIVES."elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-3950171070505602082011-09-08T09:38:00.000-07:002011-09-08T09:40:16.747-07:00Week of surprises and greatest news ever! From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
To: Jolene Wright <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Sent: Thursday, September 8, 2011 3:00 AM
Subject: Week of Suprises!

This picture that I have attached to my email this week, catches my attention for many reasons. I have walked past this tree for about 6 months wondering what I could relate it to when teaching lessons, due to the fact it is right outside of our chapel building. I have seen this tree go through a lot in it's life, at one time it was a massive beautiful green tree, thick at the stout and very abundant of life. It has now been tappered down and given a new start, it has embraced the unbearable humidity and heat of Hong Kong, the tropical storms and thunderstorms that come during this summer season, it has handled the coldness of the winter, yet it still stands strong not willing to give up. Not willing to call it quits because of the worldly cicurmstances in which we all live in. It's been through it all. Time after time it has been cut down, ( or humbled ) and has started all over again, relying on the lord at all times knowing through him anything is possible. When you are humbled, do you see it as an opportunity to re-start and grow up all over again? How amazing is that, that Heavenly Father loves us so much, he will find ways to help us come closer to him. I get humbled daily out here in the field. Whether it be the language barrior and them yelling at me saying my sounds and tones sound like a 2 year old, or it be my companion telling me that I need to calm down and take it easy, or my favorite times are when I am able to humble myself and recognize that I need to change ( yeah.. daily). Happens often when I read the scriptures or words of the prophets. We need to find time each day to humble ourselves, see what we have done wrong, and find where we can improve for the next day. Heavenly Father doesn't answer prayers if thou art prideful! I was recently reading a general conference talk and loved it when he said, " If you want to talk to your Father in Heaven, you need to pray, BUT if you want your Father in Heaven to talk to you, then you need to read the Book of Mormon." That is so powerful. Another article I was reading, talked about Brigham Young, one time in paticular he was having a very difficult trial and he said this of it, "When I came upon this trial, all I could do was ask our father for more patience and I continued this until I myself could figure out why I have been given such an amazing time to grow and learn." When we come upon trials in our life, why not ask Him for more patience to grow and learn in that time instead of asking why..why did you give it to me, let us ask, can I have more patience so that I myself can find the answers? This tree could also represent many more things, it could represent the fact that we all will make mistakes in our life and will continue to make them and that Heavenly Father will keep forgiving us according to our desire. We could relate it to the restoration in several different time periods of the church and right now its not as big as it was back in the day it's small, strong, and unmoveable. As I walked by the tree each day, there was always something that would spark into my mind and that is, there is something common among all mankind and that is we will all at one time or another in our lives, have trials, unanswerable questions, unsolveable concerns, and we just won't know what to do. At times, it destroys our faith and our testimony, but let us be like Brother Young and instead of asking why, lets ask for more patience.
This week I have left my area of Tai Po and Tai Wo, it has been the hardest thing that I have done up until this point in my life. I love those two wards, especially Tai Po. I have come to love them as family, been able to grow with them and learn with them, what a blessing it is that Heavenly Father has given me, to be able to serve his children in this part of the world. I will miss them terribly and never will I forget them and all they have taught me. In sacrament meeting, a lot of the members got up and with tears in their eyes were able to share with me their testimonies and sense of appreciation for all I have done in this area, the young men especially were so grateful. It was a way that I could feel and hear Heavenly Father saying "thank you Elder Wright, for all you have done here, but it's time to meet more of my sons and daughters and do the same as you have done here." It was a bitter sweet moment in my life, but I know that this call is of Heavenly Father, so the time has come and gone by so fast, and Heavenly Father has new plans for me. It's time to open a new chapter in my life of fourtnante events. I have been moved down to the island, about 1 hour and 45 minutes away from my previous area. They are on complete opposite sides of each other. This is one of the busiest places here in Hong Kong, and wealthiest. I have heard it is a very difficult area but the ward members are amazing. Therefore I am beyond excited to serve here. My new companion is Elder Cheng from Hawaii! He has been serving for about 6 months now and is a little shy, but such a stud. I am so excited that Heavenly Father has given me another one of his marvelous sons to serve with. Companionships are so important and with out unity and being of one, we are nothing to the Lord, so I am so stoked to be ONE and as it says in dnc ( he calls unpon the weak and unleard to thrash the nations by the spirit ) well, Westpoint needs to prepare themselves because we are getting ready to thrash ( with smiles on our faces of course )!! I am thrilled and ready to go!
On to the best news, my sister, Lindsay, has here by been called on a mission to serve the Lord for 18 months of her life, calling upon his children to repent and partake of this wonderful, life-changing gospel message. She will be leaving on oct 19, 2011 for Morristown, New Jersey. Sister wright, you my dear beloved sister are going to be an IMPECABLE missionary. There are so many people that have been prepared for you and are still being prepared, they are waiting to see that smile and hear of your testimony, prepare now to give your time, your thoughts, your actions, and 100% of you, to the Lord. He's counting on you during this time to forget yourself and go to work. It puts the biggest smile on my face knowing that she will be able to feel of the joy and happiness that I feel of right now. Serving is just amazing, you can't really describe the feelings you have while serving a mission, it's just ahh so great. I am so grateful for you Lindsay, and the constant example you have given me, you really are amazing. So willing to give yourself to the Lord, for others it's hard to do. But you are special, Heavenly Father has a smile on his face right now, because He knows whats awaiting you out in New Jersey and He is so grateful for you and all missionaries. Thank you Linds.
Lauren, start preparing now to serve a mission! ... And remember, right now don't worry what other girls and boys think about you, it doesn't matter. What matters the most is what Heavenly Father thinks about you. He loves you so much and is so aware of you and your concerns. I love you so much, don't let the little things people say to you get you down, just ignore them and brush them off, it's hard, but like it says in proverbs 3:5-6 He will direct you, He loves you and will lead you so that you too can receieve eternal happiness. Remember during these times that you always have Him, when you feel along pray, talk to Him like you would me, your best friend. He will listen and He will answer! Love you Lo!
Hey it's Elder Wright, and I am doing beyond amazing. Today was just one of the best days I have had at the temple since being here in Hong Kong. My summer missionary asked if I would do baptisms for the dead with him, we regularly as missionaries are not allowed to do this. So I sent my companion up to do an endownment session and went forward with my summer missionary to go ask if I could join him. The temple president said because no one else could do it, that I would be able to go with him. We were able to give so many of our ancestors this wonderful opportunity to accept this gospel into their lives. As I was baptizing Brother Yihm ( benjamin ) the spirit was so strong, and as I took him into the water, every time I was able to witness the smile on the persons face up in the spirit world and feel of their love and how grateful they were for worthy members to be able to give them this blessing that would now allow them to enter into Spirit Paradise. It just made me really remember how important the work that happens through out temples in the world really is. For the past year and a half I have done an endownment session everytime and as each time comes and goes I seem to get more sleepy and sleepy every time. But today was special. I really came to realize the importance of this work. Therefore I remember why I was doing this work, and who I am doing it for. We represent them, do you remember your first time, the feelings that you had? The spirit that burned strong with in the chambers of your heart? That's what we need to feel everytime, as we do it for them, their first time. What a blessing it is for us, to help these celestial beings keep progressing on their way. Sometimes we forget why we are here, what we are to do, who we are to become, and how we can accomplish all that Heavenly Father has in store for us. Let us remember we are down here on his time, to represent him and do all that we can to help our brothers and sisters, his children, to prepare to return to him once again. He is counting on us. He is counting on YOU!
This week has been just fantastic. Miracle after miracle, has just come into our lives. We first of all, have the most amazing summer missionary, I'm so grateful for the opportunity Heavenly Father has given to the young men and women here in Hong Kong to be able to serve with us, full time missionaries, not only does it give them an opportunity to grow and learn, adapt to the missionary life, but 100% of the time it molds us missionaries into powerful, effective tools in the Lords hands. I have learned and grown so much with each summer missionary I have had and I love them all so much. The youth here in Hong Kong are unlike any other youth in the world. They are so strong. All of them are the only members in their individual schools and not only do they stand strong, give impecable examples of christ like love to all, THEY INVITE ALL TO COME UNTO CHRIST, they share their testimony, they aren't scared of what others think because of how new the church is over here, they know that EVERYONE needs an opportunity like they had to partake in this heavenly message. They know that if they dont give it to them no one will, that in the afterlife their friends, classmates, family members, work collegues, and others will come up unto them and ask them why didn't you tell me of what you had in your life? They don't want that, and they know how to share their testimonies. I just love the youth over here and am so grateful for all that they have taught me, it really has had a large impact of my life.
This week we have had one large miracle that I would love to share with you. So I want to share with you all the little miracles that lead up to this large, life- changing miracle. To start, I have my toes, my finger nails, my nose, my eyes, my sight, sense of belonging, my own personality, my health, fresh air to breathe, the book of mormon, this amazing gospel message to share with all, a man named joseph smith, my savior, redeemer and brother, Jesus Christ, my Father in Heaven, Thomas S. Monson, other church authorities, other missionaries through out the world and here in Hong Kong, music, the bible, the restoration, the plan of salvation, my house, my food and money, and so much more. All this leads up to the amazing miracle that I have to serve here in Hong Kong, to serve right now in Dai Po and Tai Wo. About three months ago as I served with Elder Palfreyman I remember a night in paticular that we were contacting on the streets, getting rejected and rejected and rejected and went home miserable and happy, including every other emotion that comes with rejection feeling like failures to our Father in Heaven. We gave out a lot of materials that night, but did not recieve any phone numbers or names. Well, on monday night I got a call from a member saying there is a young lad at our church right now that has a pamphlet with your name and number on it and wants to talk to you. So Elder Wu, Benjamin and I run to our church thinking who could this be. We get there and the first thing he says is sorry. We were all so confused why he said that. So we go inside to give him a tour of our beautiful chapel and to continue to talk with him. He says 3-4 months ago when I saw you I was having a horrrible day, I wanted to die. You gave me the plan of salvation pamphlet and your number, you made me laugh because your chinese isn't that great and you are funny. Sorry I rejected you then, but I've prayed liked it taught me to in the pamphlet and God told me this is what I need in my life. So we have been teaching him every day for a week now, he will be baptized in two weeks. It showed to me, that there will be a lot of rejection in our lives, whether it be in missionary work, or our real jobs, our children or schooling, there will be rejection. But it's always for a reason, it's apart of the plan, and Heavenly Father has promised us, if we continue onward ( endure to the end ) then He will continue to guide and bless our lives beyond our wildest imaginations. I know that heavenly father is there and he is aware of all of his children. He loves us all so much and just wants the best for each and every single one of us, what if I wasn't worthy that night and today, would KAY still be alive today? Are you worthy to represent him and to help those in need? What does endure to the end mean to you? How can you better your life so that it's more pleasing to our father in heaven? HE IS COUNTING ON YOU>
All of my investigators are doing great, I love them all so much and would do anything for them. They are what is keeping me going, they are the reason I am still here today, they are my inspiration, my motivation, my drive, they are what keeps me breathing from day to day. What is yours? How can you keep developing your testimony? The best proven way is to SHARE it with others. You may feel inadaquate to share your testimony thinking, " its' not strong enough," or " my testimony is not worth sharing, it's really just too simple and not complex like all of the other members of my ward or stake. " I promise you some one right now in your life is counting on you to share your simple testimony with them, they need to hear it so they can know how to keep progressing to recieve an eternal family and return to live with him again. My area is great, I have now been here for almost 6 and a half months, it's really long, at the same time it's amazing. I have gotten to know my members on a very close relationship and have been able to gain their trust in missionaries and have a desire to help and love us. What a joy it is to work with them. My comp and I are doing great. It will be interesting to see what happenns with move calls in 2 weeks. I love this little guy, he has just improved and become the most amazing missionary ever. All my recent converts and investigators truely are my life right now and I love them. I know that this work in which we are doing is that of what the Lord has in mind of us to do. I know that he calls upon the " weak and unlearned to thrash the nations with the spirit ," because I am weak and I am unlearned, but at the same time I know with the Lords hand in my life, I can do anything.

This week has been magnificent, we have had our annual yearly mission tour, this year we had an amazing opportunity to be in the presence of three members of the quorum of the seventy, Elder Watson, Elder Gong, and Elder Wong. All three of them, within the last two conferences gave talks! It was a very uplifting time, we learned how we can become better missionaries and how we can "recongize and understand the holy ghost, within our lives and giving others the same oppt to feel it in their lives." I got a call the night before the mission tour, getting told that my companion and I would be this years subject interviewers. So we had an amazing opportunity to sit down with them and conduct and interview. They asked us questions and we got to know each other on a deeper scale. It was fantastic. I learned so much from this mission tour. Their wives all accompanied them and brought with them just the most amazing spirit, something I have never felt before, the way they conducted themselves and talked is undescribeable. We all learned something that day, the spirit bore witness to all of us, that these three elders have been called of God so serve over the Asia Area, not only did they recieve the gift of tongues, two of them shared with us, their testimonies in languages that they are very unfamiliar with, showing to us, that with faith anything is possible. One talked about jacob and the stones, not only did he talk about it, but brought one of them with him and showed it to us. He told us as this stone glows in the dark, we need to do the same, we need to be the light of the world, at all times and in all places, we need to emulate Christ like love to all and accept everyone for who they are. It showed to us and confirmed to us, that the Lord is there and He answers our prayers. I went into this meeting, asking three questions before hand to Heavenly Father. Having faith all three questions would get answered. They got answered and I got humbled. Funny how that always works out. The Lord works in mysterious ways I promise you that. I do promise you that he is there and he will answer your prayers. As I was asked to give a talk on the Holy Ghost at this conference I prayed and asked Him what to talk about because of how broad this topic was. My topic was, "What can the Holy Ghost do for me, my investigators, members, less-actives, and everyone?" As we read in St. John 14:26, it tells us that it can bring to past a remembrance of the truth of all things, such as the plan that we chose in our pre-earth life. It really can do anything, if you rely on it. I go into talking about the blessings it brings into others lives if we are worthy to have that constant companionship and I told the story of my friend, "Anthony". . . what a miracle that was! That I was worthy at that time to recieve him and find him, and answer his prayers, he had a vision/ dream of me, (I shared this experience a couple of letters ago. Anthony had a dream of my name badge.) If I wasn't worthy to find him.. who would have? As we know the Lord is preparing people for all of us right now to serve, love, and give an oppotunity to partake in this gospel message. When you were baptized you promised to take upon you His name, do you feel like you are living up to him? What can you drop or change in your life, that will enable you to come closer to him, he's waiting for you to help his children, whether it be your own childern or friends, family or relatives, or those that you haven't met at this time that you will in the future, are you preparing yourself? Your testimony? Are you unshakeable? Where is YOUR foundation built, in the unwavering sand or the sturdy unmovable rocks? How can you form your sandy foundation into the the rocks of the Lord? Are you converted to the Lord or the church? He knows, you know, and I'm sure at times you convince yourself that you are converted to Him, but in reality you are converted unto the church, I see it daily as I work with the members. It's a concern of mine, trying to find ways to help them to continue to develop their testimonies, find ways to serve and love everyone, it's hard as time goes on, with my recent converts I have to continue to give them goals and ambtions, things to look forward to, so that they don't give up and they continue to develop their love for God and his perfect church. One is to go to the temple monthly, (yes Ernest monthly!) go to church every week, to partake of the sacrament, to find ways to serve others and let them feel of Christs love through you . My mission has taught me a lot. I have grown and I really am so grateful for this opportunity to be out here in Hong Kong, among my brothers and sisters, living, loving, and serving them. They are close to my heart now, they have had an impact that will and can't ever leave me. It's changed my life in a way that I can't even put into words. It talks in my p blessing that I would serve a mission in an area where my best friends are waiting to find me again, well I can tell you I have found a lot of new best friends because I was able to have that constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Think about what you could do for yourself, your family, your neighbors, your wards, stakes and so many more people, if you had that constant companionship. Pretty spectacular. It is the best gift that we could ever receive. I am so grateful for all of you and all that you have taught me, because growing up I was stubborn and I would say I was not an active member, but now as I see the blessing of this church and what it can do for me, my friends, my family, I would tell everyone that a mission is the best decision I have ever and probably wil ever make in my life. I know that if I didn't go on a mission, I wouldn't have the amazing future that Heavenly Father has in store for me. I encourage you all if you are able to, to start preparing now to serve the Lord. Whether with your husband or wife or alone, whether its in 30 years or 3 months, start preparing now, because the Lord has been preparing people for you for years and years now. Remember with faith, we can speak any language, but the most importnant language is that of the spirit. The spirit is what leads others unto conversion, that helps us, as members to serve others, and to continue to develop our own testimonies. Rely on the spirit. First you need to recognize what it can do for you and everyone else, have a desire to have it, ask for it, have faith you will receive it, look and listen for it, and act upon it (to act is to do ), and than give thanks for it. Remember all that is good is of the spirit. It may be awkward and weird and you may be shy, but get over it, thats what I have learned as a missionary, this isn't our time its the Lords, if he needs our help you best be the first one to help him. As missionaries we run into so many awkward situations that we just think to ourselves, do you REALLY need to talk to them and sometimes we doubt, but I know everytime I have listened to the spirit, miracles have been wrought about and now I listen and act upon it 24 hours, 7 days a week, giving all an opportunity to come unto Christ. Since we are all his children, don't judge anyone love all, they are his children, accept them as He would. No matter what!. I love you all and know you are all amazing. now I want you to go, " thrash the nations with the spirit, calling all unto repentance" go and make the earth trumble and clouds rumble ( with the spirit ) its up to you now...

Really busy right now......Subject: it be august.

Time has just absolutley flown by. I can't come to comprehend that it is already august right now. So much has happened recently. We have moved apartments, gone through typhoons and floods, we have had a dramatic change in our best friend ( investigator) pool ( loosing old ones and getting new ones ), new companions, district leader, training, and so much more. I have come to realize that everything happens for a reason. Let's start with apartments, we use to live about 5 minutes away from our chapel and in our serving boundaries, now we live 30-40 minutes aways and have to travel everyday, fun fun fun haha. It gives us great opportunties to find on the way to our destinations, so thats a huge bonus. But, it is quite tiring to travel so much. Now for investigator pool, since starting this new english class program it takes up a lot of our daily time, therefore we have lost a ton of investigators. Right now that we have one week off of the english school and Heavenly Father has definately blessed me, and this week alone I have found 5 new investigators through my own efforts which is amazing. So many miracles. Two which are families, so I am just stoked out of my mind. Moving on, since I have very little time, to training and new companion....... He's from new zealand and his parents originate from mainland China, they speak chinese but he doesn't speak a word. He's learning though at an incredible speed. I have one story to share with you about his first day in Hong Kong. We just left the mission home to go back up to our area and got all of his suit cases and on the trains, within five minutes we are looking out the window and we see this man jump and baaaam a train slaughters him into pieces. Welcome to Hong Kong baby. no joke. It was his first day in Hong Kong. Awful! He was stunned as was I. It's so fun to be a missionary and experience new things. First, I had to adapt to the Chinese culture, now New Zealand.. next Africa? haha it's been great, training is just a rewarding experience. I love being able to feel of that fire my new comp has right when you get out of the mtc and the faith they have is just so strong. What a privilege and learning time for me. I'm the trainer, but in this situation I am the one being trained. So grateful. I love serving..... I don't have time to write right now, but next week I'll make it really long with pictures. love you all so much. remember why you are here and what you need to do... read your p-blessing inbetween the lines. Keep smiling to change lives. love you all . elder wright.elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-27330198492098142512011-07-17T15:22:00.001-07:002011-07-17T15:22:56.012-07:00Don't give up....---- Forwarded Message -----
From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
To: Jolene Wright <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Sent: Thursday, July 14, 2011 8:56 PM
Subject: weekly email

" There is a difference between intention and action. Those who only intend to commit may find excuses at every turn. Those who truly commit face their challenges squarely and say to themselves, "Yes that would be a very good reason to delay, but I made covenants, and so I will do what I have committed to do. " They search the scriptures and earnestly seek the guidance of their father in heaven. They accept and magnify their church callings. They attend their meetings. They do their home or visiting teaching.
A German proverb says, " Promises are like the full moon. If they are not kept at once, they diminish day by day. " As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we have committed to walk in the path of discipleship. We have committed to follow the example of our Savior. Imagine how the world will be blessed and transformed for good when all the members of the Lords Church live up to their true potential, converted in the depth of their souls and committed to building the kingdom of God.
In some way each of us stands at a decision point over looking the water. Have faith, move forward, face your fears and doubts with courage and say to yourself " I am a committed Saint!"
What are you waiting for? Whats holding you back to give your all to the Lord? As a missionary I have come to find the true meaning of "Work." As missionaries we start every day at 700 am and don't stop until 1100 pm when our face hits the pillow for the night. It's a day full of blessings, miracles, life changing experiences, and work. It takes effort to receive answers and blessings. Recently while serving with Elder Palfreyman we have come to find the true meaning of work and team work. We walk in the door each night, sweating from every pore, shirt complelty drenched and soaked all the way through to make our skin visible, pants with salt lines on them from our sweaty legs, and a smile on our face. We drop down to the floor and give our Father in Heaven thanks for such an amazing day. Knowing we did as he would. Because at this time, we represent Him more than any other time, even you as members represent him. When we go to the other side of the veil, he will ask YOU, " What did you do with MY name?" What will you say? and more importantly, will you feel like you have done your best to represent Him? Elder P and I each night after we pray, converse with each other to find a way we can better ourselves and become more like our savior. I've never been so emotionally and spiritually drained in my whole life, but at the same time I have never been this happy either. But, I also realize with work comes, trials, challenges, difficulties and thousands of obstacles, it's part of the job. It's a part of all of our lives. No one ever said life would be easy, but I say like in dnc 100:15, if we do all that we can do to be like unto him, it will be well worth it! Knowing one day I'll receieve eternal happiness and better yet an eternal family. The joy that we can't comprehend right now is awaiting us, if we do whats RIGHT. It puts a smile on my face knowing that if I do all I can Heavenly Father will give me these blessings. But one thing that dawned on me this week, is, that as a family we need to be in it together. If one isn't willing, then this dream and these blessings, will not be able to be given unto us. Are you doing your part, so that you yourself are able to receive the blessings of an eternal family? Or are you what's holding your family back? Do you love your family? Do they know that, can they feel your love? If you are doing all you can do, how can you help that wayward brother/sister, mom/dad, son/daughter, relative/friend? Have you fasted and asked Heavenly Father what you can do? Because I know if you do he WILL answer. In 1 nephi 3:7, if you keep his commandments and do all things that which are right unto him and are seeking his way not your way, he will give you a way to accomplish all things. He loves that person as much as you do, times 5 trillion, he wants to help them but he's waiting on you to ask Him and He will work through you to bring them back into the kingdom. Whether this person is a family member, less active, neighbor, relative, someone you home/visit teach, and name you have heard of that is struggling, they are counting on you, Heavenly Father is counting on you to help them. Whose ever name that you have thought of, that has entered into your thoughts, thats revelation that you just received and it's up to you know to help that person. If you deny that revelation, it is as if you are denying Heavenly Father himself. That person needs your help, Heavenly Father sent his son into this world to atone for your sins, and to give you a way to come back unto him, this is the least you can do to return him the favor. He knows who you are and is very aware of you, loves you dearly, and wants the best for you. As I sat in the temple with a member of the 70 and his wife yesterday, and my companion I was thinking, how do I become more like him? What does he have that I don't? Then Heavenly Father reminded me again, of one of my most life changing experience that has happened on my mission, that I will share with you. It's showed me that Heavenly Father knows me, Jeffrey Romney Wright, and He knows where I am right now, and every second of everyday. About 3 weeks ago, we had a small missionary gathering and just had some ice cream and talked for a little while, the meeting came to an end and we all headed different ways. David ( summer missionary ) myself and my comp, were walking home that night, and on the road there where so many people, but we were late and didn't have time to contact and talk to all of them. We thought it be best if we just not talk to them and just head straight home, so we were walking and I saw this young man from a distance, I thought the least I can do is say "hello have a great night," therefore I said that to him, and kept walking. The spirit just hit me, and said, go find him and talk to him. He needs you. I thought nothing of it. So I dropped my bag and just sprinted to try and find him. It was dark and he could have gone anywhere. I found him and talked to him for 5 minutes, exchanged phone numbers, told him I would call him tomorrow. He said, sounds great. I thought, why did I do that? It was just as if I talked to any other person, why him? Called him the next night, tried to schedule him and he said no, no, no, no, I heard your church was awful and very much into satan worshipping ( whatever that means ), I told him otherwise and bore my testimony, scheduled him for 3 weeks later, which usually means you'll never see him again. The day came and we went hiking that morning with our investigators, thinking we wouldn't hear from him and didn't need to worry about that lesson. We got lost on the mountain and make it home at 2:45 and his lesson was at 3. Weren't planning on going because we called so many time and he never answered, thought he's not going to show up. I get a call at 2:59, Hey "jeff" where are you. ( I never told him my english name. weird but yeah thats how that went down ) and I said oh, we are on our way as we speak, he wanted to shoot some hoops. So we thought, why not won't hurt and we can make a new friend. Met up with him and he had some amazing questions, so prepared to bible bash and prove to me that this church was fake and not true. Well it turned out the other way. The first time I talked to him, it was too dark and he didn't see my name tag. So we played ball, gave him a tour of the church, and then sat down with him, had the most amazing lesson with him ever, and then at the end, he saw my name tag. He asked me if he can share a spiritual, personal thought with me, I said of course, " he said, "the night before I met you, I had a dream, all I could see was a black name tag. The whole night, I couldn't read any of it except for 3 chinese characters, they were "waih jeung louh," I don't know why I had this dream or what would come from it, but I knew I needed to find him to figure out what the name tag meant." Well, that was my name he saw in the dream, on the name tag, that changed my life. As I have been in this area for 5 months now, not having much success, that proved to me Heavenly Father knows where we are, who we are and what we need. He loves us. Maybe were not going to have booming success in every area, maybe it's you that needs the area, not the area that needs you. Mabye it's you that needs the members or investigators, not they that need you. Dont give up, its just the weight of the world, when your hearts heavy, I will, I will lift it for you. It's just the weight of the world...dont give up, because YOU are loved..when your lost inside, I'll be there to find you..if darkness blinds you, I'll be there as a light to guide you! DONT GIVE UP.elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-2880915477461431852011-07-08T15:45:00.000-07:002011-07-08T15:47:11.469-07:00Importance of the Book of MormonFrom: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
To: Jolene Wright <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Sent: Wednesday, July 6, 2011 8:35 PM
Subject: weekly email

Hello From CHINA! Today is a great day, I'm sitting in Kwun Tong, with Elder Liu visiting all of our best friends. It's been a great day so far and we have a lot more visits to go! I have a quick email this week, so at the beginning of this week I decided I need to re-read the Book of Mormon, so that I could become more familiar with the stories and passages in it. It's amazing how everytime I read it, I come across something new. The first verse talks about goodly parents, this reminded me and kept me thinking about how grateful I am for my parents and all they have done for me, and what they continue to do for me. Then the verse that hit me most recently was, 1 Nephi Chapter 1:12 . "And it came to pass that as he read, he was filled with the Spirit of the Lord." This verse has never hit me as hard as it did this week. Something so simple, but so complex, at the same time. All we need to do is read, and it's then they ( we ) will be filled with the spirit! So all our investigators, all they need to do is read and it's then that they will be truely converted. It's so simple, but yet so complex and so deep. The Book of Mormon is the true book on the earth today, and many of us do not keep the commandmnents by reading it everyday. Why don't you read it everyday? What's holding you back? This is in english 531 pages or in chinese 667 pages of straight answers. Answers to YOUR salvation. As we visited the oldest member in Hong Kong at the age of 101 years old, I came to ask him, what is the most important thing he's ever done in his life? His answer, " I have read the Book of Mormon everyday since I was baptized, and I encourage all to do it, it is the only way to receive all the blessings that Heavenly Father has in store for you!" Do you want answers, this book is a map to you salvation, can answer any question that you have or ever will have, but it's up to you and how you decide to use your agency!
Much love,
Elder Wrightelder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-27225720285224961262011-06-30T08:34:00.000-07:002011-06-30T08:36:20.043-07:00The youth of the church are so important.....From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
Subject: Hello Everyone! 8 Months!
To: "Jolene Wright" <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Date: Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 8:29 PM

As time comes and times goes, I have now been in Hong Kong for over a year, and that scares me. I feel as if I have just arrived and have my full two years to go. Knowing that I have the possibilty of two more areas, and maybe 3 more companions and 5 moves left here in Hong Kong, gives me that extra encouragement that I need to work harder then I ever have before. Time is such a precious thing. This week has been so much fun, we have had the amazing opportunity to have a summer missionary with us all week. He goes home tonight and thae things will be back to normal. His name is David Wu, he was from my first area that I served in here in Hong Kong, at the time he was studying in Snow College. I was very close with his family and his 4 other brothers. His family is amazing. I have to say that I have never really clicked with someone like I did with him. This week we had so many miracles, it wasnt even funny. He's very sarcastic and loves to joke around, but at the same time loves to work hard. Therefore we had so much unity which equals tremendous success. I'm going to miss the kid. Since moving from Kwun Tong the work has been a lot more difficult to be honest with you, we've had to work much harder, be more and more obedient 125%, and really had to give it our all. More than anything, we have had to rely on the Lord 110% of the time. This area has not had a baptism in 3 years, I can't tell you why, but I can tell you that we will be have 6 baptisms in the month of July and I couldn't be more grateful. We are baptizing a man by the name of Brother Wan, he has two sons on missions and his wife is the stake relief society president ( which is a huge calling in Hong Kong ), he has investigated for more than 30 years and never has had an interest to be baptized, having an eternal family, just no desire at all, he was fine dying as a buddhist. As I have been teaching him over the past few weeks, we have come down to it and finally found out the true reasons behind it, through repentance, meeting with the bishop, and figuring everything out, he is so excited to be baptized, he chose the date himself, giving him exactly one year from when his two sons come home, so the day that they return he can take them to the temple and be sealed for all time and eternity. Another investigator is named Tom, he is a 17 year old little punk student who is possibly one of the funniest kids I have ever met. He met with missionaries for a long time, but never showed up to appts, never prayed or followed through with any commitments, well through sharing personal expeiernces and meeting with him a lot, he will be baptized on July 10, and has introduced 2 friends to us to that we are now teaching. A change of heart, I think so. The Lord works in miraculous ways. Another man, is a guy that I found contacting named a-hohng, hes 15 years old and just golden in everyway possible. He's a stud and has been waiting for years to have this opportunity. There are a few more but right now these are the ones that came to my head. As I write about this, my eyes just got all watered up, thinking about how much the Lord loves these individuals, how he has blessed my life so much, by giving me the oppt to meet these wonderful new eternal friends. The people I meet on my mission and now my celestial friends, I'm so grateful for every single person I get to meet and get to know, the Lord has blessed my life so much. I love serving my mission and honestly never want to leave. I love the Lord and know through Him that anything is possible. We went from not having a ward, to bringing tons of less actives back to church, new investigators getting baptized and given callings, to just having an amazing powerful ward. I will never forget any of the expierences that I have had on my mission, they have changed my life forever. We, as missionaries putting together a Hong Kong EFY for those that can't afford to go to america to go to efy, ( which is 99% of all the members ) this is the first time that Hong Kong will have such an activity. We are all so excited and so are all the members. The youth of the church are so important, they are the future and more than any other time, they need us right now, this world is so corrupt and messed up, they need to know who they need to rely on, and how they can become the person they got sent down here to be. There is only one way they can firgure that out and thats through your example. Hong Kong is just getting owned day after day with rain and thunderstorms, so much fun, I love it. I'm doing amazing and really loving every second of my mission and so excited for these next few months and to see what happens. Go big or go home. Here is goes, bigger than anyone ever has. I love you all so much and hope you are doing missionary work as well. Hope that you are relying on the Lord for everything. Not upon your own understandings but relying and giving him your all. I love you and hope you are all still smiling!!!! We just got back from the mission home and we have picked ourselves up a summer missionary. He's a stud. He's 19 years old and from Yuen Long! My first area, his family is amazing, he just returned from Snow College last month. He will be serving with us for the next week! So exciting! This summer we won't be having a lot of summer missionaries because of the educational changes that have been happening here in Hong Kong, a lot of the student (members) will no longer be having a summer vacation! So be grateful you do! Therefore, the miracle of the day is only one summer missionary came into the field today and we are the lucky elders that got him! It's going to be a great week, I'm really am just thrilled out of my mind to have another breathing soul in our lonely apartment! Haha, It will be amazing. This week has gone by quite fast might I say. It's been my first week covering these wards, and my first week with elder Palfreyman, its gone by pretty smooth! The previous missionaries in the area never updated the records. So when we are meeting and teaching all these individuals, we really just have to rely on the spirit to know what to teach and how to help them. It's been so amazing to be able to see and feel the guidance we have recieved through out this week. We have met a lot of new investigators as well. Having so many miracles along with it! I don't have much time tonight I've been trying to figure out how to send my pictures home because we took so many this week. But, I just can't figure it out, so I thought that I would write a quick email. Really quick so that you have something from me! In about an hour we have to start our night and start teaching. We have a lesson every hour until 9, so we are really busy, what a blessing that is! We also had our first typhoon of the season yesterday and another one of the way. Right now it's still raining and really windy. Typhoon season is here and it's not leaving for awhile. It's been a blast, but at the same time, very hard to do missionary work because usually people can't leave their houses due to the weather. Ernest, Lambert, Mark, and Jason were all able to visit this last saturday. What a joy that brought to my life. Recieved the priesthood, been to the temple, still reading and praying, I couldn't be any happier. Mark told me he is now preparing for a mission, I hope that Ernest will as well! I know that Ernest reads these emails so yeah buddy, pick up your game. Ernest is stud, he's like my little brother here in Hong Kong, always here to support and help me out. He's the man, I love him so much. I love all the people here, we are making so many new friends and teaching so many great people right now, I just absolutely love seeing how the gospel changes every single person and how different it is for everyone, myself included. This week I've really focused on how I can become a better person, where can I improve, and how I can become a better tool in the hands of the Lord. It all comes down to, how much do you love the Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ? Do you see all that they have done for you and me? It's when we realize all that they have done for us, that we will have a desire to be like them. Loving and serving everyone. There are so many people ( golden investigators ) out there in the world that are waiting to hear this message and they are waiting for you to share it with them. Be that person to change their lives, they will be eternally grateful for you. Share it with all to hear, work colleagues, school mates, neighbors, people on the street, family members, EVERYONE NEEDS IT. I hope that this week you can be the person, the son or daughter that Heavenly Father needs you to be. Never give up, always rely on Heavenly Father, He will guide you! He loves you. I love you and hope and pray that you will have a great week. Ask Him to help you continue to develop your testimony and faith, to give you more missionary opportuinites, because if you aren't sharing this gospel with all to hear, you are breaking the commandments everyday. Therefore repent and start keeping the commandments, 100% of the time! SMILE! Alma 37: 34-End of the Chapter. Be grateful for what you have, not what you desire and want. You need to take a step back and look at what you have compared to so many others. Starting with the opportunity to wake up this morning and breathe fresh air.......
love elder wright!elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-35052695652381028592011-06-16T11:17:00.000-07:002011-06-16T11:19:40.721-07:00It's not easy.....From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
Subject: hello
To: "Jolene Wright" <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Date: Thursday, June 16, 2011, 12:19 AM

Hello everyone,
I'm so sorry recently that I haven't been able to get a weekly email home. It's been pretty crazy, and hectic over here in Hong Kong. The weather these days is off the walls, it's always just down pouring and so humid. I can't tell what is sweat and what is rain anymore, gotta love it. Over the past three months I have been able to serve with Elder Ng in Tai Po. It has been the best 3 months ever, we went from hating each other to best friends so fast. Together we learned so much, the main thing we learned is how to have the constant companionship of the holy ghost with us in all times and places. It's not easy, all it takes is one negative thought and op...... bye bye holy ghost. We together went through many trials and difficult times from one thing to another and we didn't think that those trials would ever stop, almost giving up a few times. But in the end, remember what it says in Alma 26:27. We need to bare all of our trials with paitience. How much greater is the joy in the end, than the beggining. Think about that for a second. The end of trial, the end of our lives, is so much greater than the beginning. The celestial kingdom or earth life? Which is better? The beginning of a trial or having faith and accomplishing a trial? We all have our own trials and problems, but when we do all that we can to overcome them, having faith at all times, and relying the rest of the time on the Lord, it is then that you are preparing yourself to return to live with Him again. I also recently read a talk from 2 conferences ago. I had to give a sharing. The talk is called, " What have you done with his name. " ( talks about the cow breaking out of the fence.. why was the fence there... why does god give us commandmants...) you know that talk and if you don't I highly suggest you drop everything and read it right now or re read it. This talk really hit me again. I've read it before, but never really pondered it and applied it to my life. Think about it, as members, when we were baptized we not only promised Him we would keep his commandments, go to church, love everyone, read the book of mormon, but we took on his name and as members we represent him. We also covenanted with him at the time of our baptism that we would bring the world his truth and we would show how grateful we were that he gave us this opportunity to partake of this one and only true gospel by sharing it will all to hear. As members you have a responsibility to share this message with everyone, a lot of you live in Utah and think how can I share this message with anyone here, they are all mormon? Well, there is plenty of ways. Share it with less active members, the retired and weak members that because of health and other issues aren't able to make it to church, relatives, there is people through out the world that would love for you to write your testimony in a book of mormon and send it too them, they are waiting for you. Are you doing all that you can to give the world his truth. I don't have much to say, except as members of his church, it's about time that you pick your game up and rely on the Lord for EVERYTHING.
In Hong Kong I now cover three wards and have a new companion, his name is Elder Palfreyman, he's from Orem Utah. He's legit. He's been out for about 2 months, so we have a lot of learning to do.. .Cantonese in paticular. We will be serving together for the next 6 weeks and then after that I will be having as we say in the mission field a " baby " a fresh greenie to train from the MTC. Should be so much fun and I can't wait. haha pray for him he's going to need it. Pray for me too, who are we kidding. I love Hong Kong more than ever right now. The miracles never stop. I can't wait to see you all next year and share them with you. I know this church is true and I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That for all of u,s he accomplished and completed his atonement. That Heavenly Father is our Father in Heaven and loves each and everyone of us, He is aware of us and will answer every prayer you say. He loves you. I love you. Joseph Smith and Thomas Monson are prophets in these latter days. Listen to their counsel and it's then that you will be the happiest you have ever been. Just smile and take it one step at a time. One foot in front of the next. In chinese we say "maahn maahn haahng". I love you and am always praying for you! Have a great week!elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-1435185033097889552011-05-26T10:08:00.000-07:002011-05-26T10:10:29.664-07:00"A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE."rom: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
Subject: hey!
To: "Jolene Wright" <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Date: Thursday, May 26, 2011, 2:38 AM

This week in Hong Kong, I have learned so much and seen a huge change. Recently, we have had two general authorities come and visit us here in our mission. The first being Elder Holland and his wife, and the second being, Elder Bednar and his wife ( As well as 6 members of the quroum of the 70 haha, all in one week, so yes they re-centered us in a way that made us all have a desire to hit it up from 2nd gear to 3rd gear). What an amazing expierence we have had to listen and learn from them. They have given us insights on how we can become better missionaries, members, friends, brothers and sisters, parents, and what we need to do to prepare to return to our fathers presence again. I forgot my notes to be quite honest with you, but promise next week I'll bring them and will tell you what they said. I can't wait to tell you. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it, it is something in which I will never forget, especially Elder Holland. I get the chills just thinking about it. As he started talking, one of the first things that he said was referring to us missionaries, " I swear if any of you even think about leaving the field, I'll find you, I'll hunt you down, I'll capture you and I will make Clint Eastwood look like a boy scout." Haha I thought it was quite funny. I died laughing none of the hong kongers got it, but I sure enjoyed it. He talked about how important the work is and how everyone should be preparing to serve. He said if you have ever even thought about serving or considered it or are thinking about it right now, you need to start your paper work. The need for missionaries is high and the lord is counting on us. He talked about special experiences he and sister holland just had in the middle east that will change the church, but wouldn't tell us what happened or is going to happen. So that has us all thinking!! He went on to talk about investigators. He said do you want your investigators to keep their commitments, do you want them to pray better, read more, continue to develop their testimonies, and do their best to keep converting, well YOU are heavenly fathers investigators and he wants you to do the same! Went on talking about the power of the holy ghost and how many members and missionaries think they can just do everything on their own, well they are wrong. He gave it to us for a reason, to be our CONSTANT companion. These are just a few of the little things that he shared with us, just wait for next week, you will want to go crawl up in a ball and never leave the house. Then the following day we had an opportunity to do a "question and answer " with Elder Bednar, he did a great job and really helped a lot of the members here in Hong Kong. They are in the beginning stages here in hk and needed the answers and help that he offered. At the end, what really shocked me was when we bore his testimony, he stated the same like over 6 times in a row, saying, " I have witnessed Jesus Christ and know that He lives and that He has a resurrected body, I have witnessed..." that is pretty unbelieveable. Then the quroum of the 70s gave talks throughout the week to and did an amazing job. It was just a spiritually uplifting week, that was in great need. I have learned so much and can't wait to share more with you all next week.

"Unfortunately, from time to time we also hear of Church members who become discouraged and subsequently quit coming to and participating in our Church meetings because they think they don’t fit in."
Is this you? Do you feel like you don't have friends or you're just different then everyone in your ward, or stake, or primary class, or sunday school class... do these feelings make you not want to go to church? If so, they are of satan, and you are loosing the battle. The real question is why do you go to church? Is it to socialize or thank h.f. and jc for ALL that they have done for us. President Holland Said, " that the saddest group of people in the whole world is the less active lds members. They are the most pathetoic people out there." don't let that be you for the worng reason. Don't let yourself get put into that category. Be strong and remember you are h.f. investigator, you need to keep improving and converting to the lord. What is the true conversion? and Have YOU been truely converted? Ask yourself...
With this in mind, let our hearts and hands be stretched out in compassion toward others, for everyone is walking his or her own difficult path. As disciples of Jesus Christ, our Master, we are called to support and heal rather than condemn and criticize. We are commanded “to mourn with those that mourn” and “comfort those that stand in need of comfort.” True love requires action. We can speak of love all day long, we can write notes or poems that proclaim it, sing songs that praise it, and preach sermons that encourage it, but until we manifest that love in action, our words are nothing but “sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.” Christ did not just speak about love; He showed it each day of His life. He did not remove Himself from the crowd. Being amidst the people, Jesus reached out to the one. He rescued the lost. He didn’t just teach a class about reaching out in love and then delegate the actual work to others. He not only taught but also showed us how to “succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.” Christ knows how to minister to others perfectly. When the Savior stretches out His hands, those He touches are uplifted and become greater, stronger, and better people as a result. The lord has given us this opportunity to have our families, our friends, houses, cars, education, a prophet seer and revelator, this gospel message, our AGENCY, and this time to come to earth. Our brother has came and atoned for our sins, has given you and I an opportunity to return to His presence again, and all that he asks you to do is, " love thy lord with all the heart." Why did he ask us this? Why is this the most important commandment? Because it is when we love Him with all of our heart, that we try our best to follow him, keep all of his commandments, and have trust in him that what ever he has ever said, whether through the bible ,bom , prophets, or any other source that we are willing to do whatever it is, because we know that He wants the best for you and I. He loves us and knows us individually, this week I have been beyond sick, but not once did I ask why because I knew He loved me, I knew/know that He had and still has a plan just for me, Elder Jeffrey Romney Wright, He knows what I need and where I need to go, He knows what I need to go through and what trials I need to overcome, He knows everything I need to do in this life so that I can reutrn to live with Him again. He has a plan for each of us, never ask Him why, accept everything in your life and instead of asking why, ask Him how can I learn through this trial? How can I serve others, when it is I that needs to be served? How can I live in a manner that I can have your constant guidance and direction so I know what I need to do and how I can do it? Never change who you are for anyone or anything. It doesn't matter what others think, I had a phase early in my mission, when I went out on the streets I was scared to talk to others because I didn't want them to judge my horrible Cantonese or make fun of me for my outfit or for being Mormon and trying to share this crazy message about a boy who saw God and Jesus with them. I was critical and really cared what others thought of me, but it doesn't matter, because at that time in my mission I had no success because I was stuck in the world, it was when I realized that all that matters is what our Father in Heaven thinks and wants me to do, thats when my mission changed and I changed. FORGET what others think and go to work. I go on the streets now and talk to all because I know this message to be true and that Jesus Christ is our savior and redeemer, that he atoned for me and my sins and loves me, and he did that for everyone else as well. I don't care if i can't speak the language or I'm not the most fashionable missionary, because I know this gospel is true and I want others to know. I want to be able to give everyone an opportunity to change and have true conversion within their lives. It's up to you and I to change the world, where do we start, with ourselves first, be humble, meek, lowly in heart, have faith and a desire to serve and love everyone. Be who h.f. made you to be, change not and love everyone for who they are. love as Christ and h.f. love everyone. We have a message to share, we have a plan to give, and lives to change. We don't have much time to do this and give all an opportunity to accept this gospel and really embrace it into their lives. Let's work together and do our best to serve and love ALL of our brothers and sisters!
If we are His hands, should we not do the same?

have a great week! love you! Elder Wright!!elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-45712033558980587672011-05-19T07:30:00.000-07:002011-05-19T07:31:39.190-07:00Hey there!Hey there!
It's Elder Wright, how is everyone doing this fantastic week? I hope just great. This week we have had mission conference, visits from apostles and ward conference. It's been a really busy week, and I have learned so many new things. I really am loving every second I have out here in the field and can't believe how fast time is going by. I have 10 months left and I am not too happy about that. I feel like I just started my mission yesterday. I love Hong Kong and people here, it is like home to me now and I hope with these last ten months that I can do my best to change it for the best.. I hope that I can work hard and show to my Father in Heaven that I am so grateful for this opportunity that he has given me, to serve here among my brothers and sisters. Elder Ng and I are doing great. Over the past few weeks we have had our fair share of disagreements and we don't even know why. We thought, maybe it could be the culture, or even the language, maybe even our personalities, but as time goes by, we have found out that it has not been any of those problems. Because the culture, I am Chinese, so come on, thats forsure not it. I speak well enough in chinese and he speaks well enough in english, so that wasn't the problem. Personalities, well we are both really chill, so there is nothing there that could have caused these problems, so we decided to fast and pray to ask Heavenly Father to help us overcome these problems and trials. Because we know that even if you have the smallest amount of contention in you companionship ( such as a mean thought, disagreeing, not having faith towards eachother, not being able to rely on eachother, or just thinking you can do everything on your own, not giving them opportunites to serve you, etc ) it is then that satan is your third companion and the companionship of the Holy Ghost is not with you anymore. Just like marriages or friendships, if you want to have success and if you want to have Heavenly Father guide you in every step, then you need to make sure that you are always trying your hardest to love everyone and always have the comp of the holy ghost with you. It is then that you will be happy and so will your family and friend, it is then that h.f. will answer all of your prayers and guide you to know what you need to do, or how you can overcome your trials and hard times. We know that the world is going to get worse and worse, but as long as we are doing our best, reading the scriptures daily and listening/following our prophets advice and words, by these small and simple things great things are brought to past. So never give up. We all have trials and hard times, most of the time we do pray and ask h.f. how to overcome them and you may think He's not answering me, why? Are you doing your best to do what he has asked you? He talks to us every 6 months through our prophets and everyday through the scriptures, are you taking advantage of those opportunities? I hope that you are. because it really is the biggest blessing we have in our life today. I love you all so much and love serving the Lord even more. I hope you can all serve missons to expierence the joy that I am right now, it's unlike anything you will ever come to feel or know. Never give up on yourself, always have an eye single to the glory of God. He loves you and wants to guide you. You are all amazing and all his sons and daughters, live in a way that He will respect you, that he will be proud of you and grateful for all you have done. Serve everyone and love everyone for who they are, love them for their mistakes and bad decsions.
love e wrightelder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-2743734486543998772011-05-14T15:03:00.000-07:002011-05-14T15:05:03.281-07:00Happy Birthday Dad!From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
Subject: Hey!
To: "Jolene Wright" <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Date: Thursday, May 12, 2011, 12:58 AM

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear DAD, Happy Birthday to YOU!! I just wanted to start out by telling everyone that A. I have the best dad in the whole world, that with out him I wouldn't be the man I am today and that B. It's his birthday this week!! One year older and wiser too! Happy Birthday to you! woohoo. Happy Birthday dad! My dad is the most amazing man out there, I have never met someone who works so hard for their family because he loves them so much!!! Because of my dad, I have been brought up in a manner that has been pleasing to my Heavenly Father, because through out my life he has stood worthy of the priesthood he holds, at all times and in all places, he has always been able to give me, my sisters, my mother, or any one in need a blessing and I'm so grateful for the example he has been to me. Over the years we had our differences, there were times we did not get along as I was growing up, mostly because we are too much alike and we always had to be right. Now as the years have past by, as we have realized how important a father-son relationship really is, I can say that one of my best friends is my father and that just puts a huge smile on my face knowing that I can say that! I'm so grateful for him and all that he has done for me, he has given me an example to follow and if I can be 1/5 of the man, dad, husband, father, friend, that he is..... I know I'm doing great. Dad I hope you have a great birthday, and mom and the girls take you out to eat some where realllll nice! love you so much!!!! Happy Birthday from China!
Another week has come and past, and would you look at that, I got to talk to my family this week and wasn't that just a delight. They all sounded so great and so happy. I even got to talk to my grandmothers! I love you all and miss you all so much, wish I could have just talked to everyone! This week as I'm sure some of you know, I had to give a sharing about, " The Companionship of the Holy Ghost in Missionary Work and in our Daily Lives." It went really good, I felt fantastic afterwards because during my talk I knew for 100% sure that I did have that companionship and heavenly father helped me know what I needed to say. Why do you all think its so important to have that companionship? Why do we need the holy ghost? Are you living worthy of it? Whats the point of it? Do you just rely on it when you are in times of need or trouble, or do you desire to have it at all times? In 2 nephi 32:5 it tells us what the companionship of the holy ghost can do for us, as individuals and as companionships ( whether missionary or marriage ) and as families and friends, it can show unto us all things in which we need to do.. it can guide us from place to place, and help us to know the will of our father in heaven. How many of us have felt the spirit in the last week? Last day? Last hour? Depending on your answers, ask yourself why? Pray ask h.f., how you can change that and how you can have his guidance in your life more often. Figure out how you can have it more in your life. Because I'm limited of time right now, I will tell you next week all about my sharing experience!!! I love you all so much and know that if you strive to have the comp of the hg with you, it is then you will know how you can overcome all your trials and difficulties, how you can stop sinning and making stupid mistakes, how you can have his guidance in YOUR life. Well I love you all and hope that you are doing your best to serve everyone. hong kong is doin great. Yesterday it was in the 90 with 100% humity, just a little bit much and we haven't even started summer yet. Recently I got to see Vincent and Elder Fogt and Ernest and a few other people that I haven't seen for a while and they all seem to be doing fantastic. I sent pictures to my mother so she will put them up for all to see. I love you and hope that you are all doing great. Never give up. Never. We didn't come down here to earth to give up. Do your best and the lord will help you accomplish the rest. love you!elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-22046690447533402532011-05-05T10:01:00.000-07:002011-05-05T10:02:31.606-07:00Happy Mother's Day!!From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
Subject: Mothers Day
To: "Jolene Wright" <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Date: Thursday, May 5, 2011, 12:39 AM

47 Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.

This week is Mothers Week, and I have had a lot of time recently to reflect on what my mother has done for me through out my life. I have come to realize that I will never be able to do 1/4 of what my mom has done for me for anyone. She has taught me the morals and values that I needed to learn so that I can be the person that my Father in Heaven desires me to be. Through my mother and her obedience, Heavenly Father was able to guide and lead her so that I could be here in Hong Kong today, serving my brothers and sisters. Because of my mom, my family has the opportunity to live with each other for time and eternity and have the amazing blessings of becoming an eternal family. Because of my mom, I know how to love everyone for who they are, how to serve those in need, how to give a helping hand to those in distress, how to smile and show everyone that life is great, to laugh at the little things, to try my best to live the gospel in the manner Heavenly Father has set it up, to be myself and never let others put me down, to love, serve, and pray for thy enemy, to make sure that my family is number one on my list at all times and in all places, and she has taught me much more than this. Some may ask how has she taught such amazing life lessons, and I tell you its through her example. She never forced me to do anything, she taught with love and through her own example. This is the way that I have come to learn so much. With out my mom and her testimony, I wouldn't be on a mission right now, I wouldn't have had this amazing, unreal, fantastic, life changing blessing, if it werent for my mom and dad! The last few years before my mission my mom and I were able to get so close, we were best of friends. Growing up when i was 12-16 yeah haha not the best times, but you know we all grow and learn from our mistakes, we are all able to partake in the amazing blessing of the atonement, no matter how big or small your problem or sins are the atonement is for everyone and everything. Through it we can all be cleanesed of our sins and mistakes, because our savior loves us and wants us to be happy in this life and the life to come. When I started applying the atonement in my life it was then that I saw a difference in me, it is then that I realized my family is the most important thing I have on this earth today, it was then that it finally snapped. Yeah it took me a little longer than most to realize that, but I am so grateful that I am able to have the relationship I do with my mom and family today. A lot of the time, because my amazing father is always working his butt off to support his family, he had to travel a lot! So it was always me lauren and mom ( sometimes lindsay depending if she wasnt the limelight of the world, she just is too popular for us. ha ha ) over those years that my dad had to travel, the three of us, were able to build a strong relationship and more than that a friendship! My mom and I are best friends and I love her so much, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't be able to say today that I would be a member of this church, I wouldn't have been able to help Vincent, Mary and her daughters, Lambert, Mark and his family, Ernest, Tyron, Lamb, Ken, Sophia, and so many more. It is because of her that I was able to help them, through the Lord working through her and then me. We still have a lot more of lives to change. My mom is the best example of love. She loves all, I would have to say this might sound rude but I did a sharing about my mom for the mission this week and I compared her to a dog. I will ask you, what I asked all the missionaries... what are the characteristics of a dog? Think about it for reals....
A dog loves everyone, it doesn't matter if you are fat, smoking and drinking, if you just sinned or just made the biggest mistake of your life, he doesnt care if you are in the worst mood ever or if you are happier then a child at disneyland, my point is... that a dog loves everyone for who they are, not what they are but who the lord sees them as. The lord loves everyone no matter what! He will never give up on anyone, and accepts everyone for who they are and the baggage that comes with them. We all make mistakes and have our own problems and trials, He's aware of that, will always be ready to help you lift those burdens through the power of prayer and faith and obedience and the atonement. My mom is like a dog, she serves all and gives her full heart to the lord each and everyday, I have not once in my 20 years seen my mom give up or offend anyone on purpose, she loves everyone and I think that is the most amazing Christlike attribute that my mom has. I look up to her in so many ways and love her more than life it self. I love you mom and hope that you have an amazing mothers day. I can't wait to call you! You are the best mom ever!!!
This week was moves calls and interviews, it was a rather long week, but it all made up for it, my interview with the president was amazing. I love him so much. It was one of the best things ever. He is so in tune with the spirit, it blows my mind. I hope to be like him one day. As for moves Elder Ng and I will be staying together and we will stay in the same area as well. We will build this place up and make it the strongest area in all of Hong Kong. We had so many people at church on sunday it was amazing, I gave a talk on the atonement and prayer, haha I was quite nervous, but the Lord helped me get the point out and let them feel of the holy spirit which is the most important part. It doesn't matter what we say, or what we do, it matters that they were able to have the chance to feel of the spirit and let it testify unto them. 2 nephi 33:1, He is the teacher that converts the children of men. It's so important to have the spirit, whether we are teaching lessons( gospel lessons or life lessons or advice ) to converts, investigators, members, your children, friends, or just anyone because its then they can know what you are saying is what the Lord wants them to know and its then that they will change. Hong Kong is getting so hott haha I'm dying but I would rather have it hot and gross then.... snowing haha. Sorry for all those in Utah bummmmer. I heard Osama got killed? haha every chinese person comes up to us,( please use chinese accents )" you hear theee man in afigangkdjh ( they butcher that word every time with out a doubt ) got a a a shot in thee head, are da you happy? " haha, ok. thats enough. I am really loving every second I have out here and I love my comp and my area, the new investigators we have and the members and all they do for me. I got to see Vincent and Ernest last sunday, they both have the priesthood now and are going to the temple on friday! I couldn't be happier! I am loving it and hope you are too. Take a few minutes this week and reflect on your life and all that your mother has done for you, since day one. Look how far you've come from her, whether its learning from her mistakes or learning for her example. You learned something, we all do. love you and have a great week!
grandma romney- love you, happy mothers day! love your favorite!
gram Wright!!! how are you? I love you so much, happy mothers day thanks for all that you did for my father as he was growing up ,I know it couldn't have been easy haa, love you gram! keep smiling!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL!elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-63761278733302431322011-04-28T19:58:00.000-07:002011-04-28T19:59:52.746-07:00100% Humidity here in HOng Kong!!From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
Subject: happy easter!
To: "Jolene Wright" <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Date: Wednesday, April 27, 2011, 10:54 PM

Hello everyone, sorry about last week just not enough in the day to get out my usual email. Well as for Hong Kong right now, it is 100% humid and about 85 degrees, so we are just loving it. Summer is here. Who would have guessed it would be here so fast. It's crazy, our apartment is like a sauna ( spell check ) and we are just dripping by the time we step out the door. As for our white shirts and how they are suppose to be white, well, lets just say in the summer time bleach is our best friends! Elder Ng and I are doing great, we have had so many miracles each and every day! We have met a lot of amazing individuals and we are making so many new friends. Each day we have a lot of time on the streets trying to talk to them and get to know them. Share this message with them and give them an opportunity to accept this beautiful plan Heavenly Father has given to us. haha It's amazing how many people do not want it right now! I'm shocked hahaahaha Oh man, our area is pretty small, so we run into a lot of the same people as we are walking around. Man oh man, I've never had to run so fast before! I had a man chasing me the other night, yelling profound language at me. Telling me that I was satans son, because the week before I told him he was a child of God and God loves him and wants him to return with him one day. Guess he wasn't to fond of that message. Well besides the chasings, we have found a lot of amazing people. The other night as I was going through records from 2004, I had a feeling to call this grandma whos about 70-80 years old, who met with missionaries when she was younger but hasn't had a chance to see them since. So I called and talked to her and her husband about who I was, what I was doing in Hong Kong, and why we needed to visit her. At the time she didn't remember who missionaries were, and actually had no idea who Jesus Christ was. Finally after 30 minutes of talking to her I finally scheduled her for the next morning at 10, asked her for her addresss and she gives it to me. I was thinking it would be one of the high rises near by, welp........ was I wrong. We ended up hiking for 2 hours in the hills finally coming to the old, old village with farms and all sorts beat up houses and wooden fences. ( needless to say my white shirt was so wet you could see through it. iiiyaaa. ) We finally got to their cute little shack, where they had dogs, cats, turtles, fish, you name it, they had it running all around the house. The night before she said I can only give you 20 minutes to talk to me tomorrow because I know the message you have to share with me, won't change my life and my husband doesn't believe in God, so you have 20 minutes to say what you want to say. We get there and share the message of the plan of salvation with them, they both heard the message, listened very intently and accepted it all. No questions, just tears in their eyes saying how greatful they are that they to can live with each other after this life. They have already set a date to get sealed in the temple. Yeah it's a little fast but you know, they are prepared. Heavenly Father has prepared them for this time, in Hong Kong, the older generation had a horrible experience with the church, because when missionaries first got here, 50-70 years ago the translation of the name of the church and the Book of Mormon was that of devil worshipping churches, so many got wrong interpetations of what our church stands for and believes in. So usually when we hit the streets, the first people to anti us are the older people. We know that Heavenly Father prepared the Cheuih Ga Tihny couple for Elder Ng and I couldn't make us any happier! Following the lesson, Sister Cheiuh ( the old lady ) made us a huge lunch and then we took a tour of their farm, its so beautiful i'll send pictures next week. Just way up in these chinese landscapped mountains, ahh man so tight. We are actually about to go visit them again right now. I just want to leave my testimony with you all that I know this church is true and that our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us. He's aware of you and me, He knows what we need to do and how we can accomplish all of our lives ambitions and goals. I promise you, that if you rely on Him He will guide you. Hey remember the communication problems between Elder Ng and me? It's so much better. I've been really working hard on learning more and more and pushing myself to learn more cantonese, and my hand, face, and body gestures are amazing, hahaha so that helps a lot. I love you all and hope you are all doing your best to serve everyone!
love elder wright.elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-19179604151363414812011-04-14T15:16:00.000-07:002011-04-14T15:18:00.634-07:00Guess who is 20? You are the best. I had an amazing birthday here in Hong Kong, my first one and last one. So would you look at that. So let me tell you about the big day haha, It started out normal, no one remembered or knew it was my birthday until like 2:00. haha no big, its all good, then we had a district meeting and they sang to me and we had some delicious cake. Following district meeting, we continued on with the day, finding, visiting, and teaching. Then a suprise happened. Would you look at that. At 6 ish I got a call saying I needed to come to the mtr station ( train station) and so I did, I get there and guess who is there? Vincent! He came all the way up here for my birthday to take me out to dinner, he just had the biggest smile on his face, so excited to see me and not only did he come but, as did Mary, Lambert, Tyron, and Richard. It really made my birthday the best one I have ever had. Some of my recent converts came 2 hours out of their way to visit me. Made me feel like I had some real great friends. I love them all so much. Vincent is the best. Mary too funny, Lambert is a goof, and Tyron is just too tight. Man do I miss them. It was so good to see all of them. We went out to a really fun chinese resturant and then went back to the church, ate some cake and than Vincent got up and shared his testimony with everyone as did Lambert, Mary, and Tyron. It just about killed me. They have all come so far. I remember the first time meeting each of them and being able to see them now, it's as if they are completly new people. They are incredible. They have the strongest testimonies and the best desires. Vincent is preparing to serve a mission, how cool is that? oh man, sorry about last weeks email, I can't even remember what I said, all I know is at that time, I had a raging head ache haha, sorry la. Well by this time next week last year, was my first day in the beloved mtc. What a day that was. One that I will never forget. Just so cultured shocked. I felt as if I was thrown into prison, I was scared to death to even speak a word. Who are we kidding, but as I look back on it now, the mtc was just a magnificent place, so much great food, my teachers and the enviorment were all so amazing and I'm so grateful for the 3 months I got to spend there. It was just a growing experience, lets be honest though, the only area in which I grew there was that of my testimony, which is the best way. I can promise you that, they did not teach us the language of Cantonese. ha I don't know what language they taught us, but im tellin ya, it wasn't Cantonese. haha, but I have been able to experience 3 areas and 4 companions in the last year. It has been the most amazing year of my life. I have learned and grown so much. This last year is a time in my life that I will never forget. I have been able to serve in a place in which I call home now, amongst my brothers and sisters, I love them all so much and never want to leave them. We as missionaries will always have trials and times when it feels like Heavenly Father just tackles us to the ground and beats us just to humble us, those aren't my favortie lets be honest, rather scary time in life. But through those times, its then that I have grown the most. My testimony was nothing when I got into the mtc. I didn't even know if this church was true, nor did I ever read the Book of Mormon, I relied on my mothers testimony more than anything. But as I have got beaten with humility and gone through trials, it has been at that time, that I have found out, that my Father in Heaven loves me, that with Him I can do and accomplish anything, that this is the only true church on the earth today and if we live by its standards and principles ( the commanments and guidance from our prophets and scriptures ) it is then that He will bless us and answer our prayers. When we are doing the best to keep the commandments and follow in our Saviors footsteps. He sent his beloved son to the earth to give us an example to what we need to do as we come to earth. We need to follow in His footsteps and be like unto him. We need to serve and strive to do the best, to love everyone for who they are. We all make mistakes get over it, I am constantly making mistakes, in my brian whether it be a mean thought or an action that I do, as are you, no one is perfect, but as long at we are doing our best it's then that Heavenly Father will realize that and strive to help us perfect our selves and bless us and our families. As families we need to strive to work together, to serve together and to spend as much time as possible together. The family is the best blessing heavenly father has given to us today. We are to learn and grow together. Yes, we will have fights sometimes, but its through those times that we can stregthen our relationships even stronger. Are you having fhe every monday night? If not why? The prophet has commaned it, and right now the prophet is speaking the words of god, he represents our Father in Heaven right now, through Him we can know what our Father wants us to know. He wants us to have fhe every monday night wether you like it or not, whether you are 89 and single or 22 with 5 kids, you need to have it. It's one thing that we have focused here in Hong Kong, is the power of fhe, because a lot of the time in this culture its not normal to spend time with your family. Except for a few holidays out of the year, usually they work long hours and the only time anyone is home is to sleep, but the miracles that have come from those families that have started holding fhe every monday night are those in which words can't describe. They have been blessed more than anyone. One thing that I have learned recently and through out my whole mission and which was brought up a lot in this last weeks conference, was the power of prayer and revelation. So important. There are so many different ways that He can answer you. You need to watch and listen to every small detail. It's usually when you least expect it, that He will answer you. Just remember, we are on his time table. this isn't our time this is His time. Recently Elder Ng and I have been doing a lot of finding and its been great, I love hitting the streets and talking with everyone, it's hard sometimes to talk to the elderly because their dialect of Chinese is not of that in which I can understand, nor can they understand me. So thats so hard because its them that need to hear this message since they are about to croke any day now. So one thing I have been trying to do is learn some simple phrases that I can talk to them and say to them, its tough. But I have been able to put a smile on their faces and thats all that matters to me. We hit the streets and don't stop for 6 hours at a time, sometimes we have tons of success and at other times we have little to none, it really is a testimony builder, i love it so much. Because I know that as long as I'm doing my best and have the spirit with me and my companion, then it is then that they will come to find out that we represent the Lord right now and he has called us two to talk to them, to help them feel of his love. How amazing is it, everyday I get to talk to so many people and share this message with them, yeah at times I get drinks and stuff thrown at me and then we have times when people feel of the spirit and want to know everything. so yesterday ( got a story no prob ) we had exchanges and I got put with an elder paticulary because he wants to go home and hates it here, Pres Chan thought I could help him, he has not had a baptism or any success his whole mission and he's ready to give up, so we got together prayed and hit the streets, talked to a lot of people and got a few bites, but it was then that I had a feeling that we needed to go to a paticular spot and find some one named Leih siu je, I got this name through prayer the night before, but had no idea where I was going to find it. It was my first time recieving a female name, but as I got this feeling I knew this was going to help that elder, we were walking and the cutest little girl in a stroller just yelled, waih jeung louh leih hou ma, which translates to Elder Wright how are you, I have never seen this family before in my whole life, it was a little girl and her mom, they just went grocery shopping and were headed home. I waved and said hey little sister how are you? ( she was like 4. cutest thing ever ) and we got to a huge stair case and she started asking people to help her get down the stairs. No one would help her, so I thought, hey I'll catch back up to them and I will help her, so I did, and we got to the bottom of the stairs and she asked me, " last night did you recieve my name in a prayer like I did yours, I was so scared when I first saw you, I didn't understand why I dreamt about you last night, but why are you here and what are you doing? Why do you speak chinese and can you help me strengthen my relationship with my family and Father in Heaven?" Well we met this lady and my comp for the day was in tears, he saw that the Lord is here with us day in and out, he wants us to have success and love the work. It really is amazing how much He loves us and all the different ways he shows us. Our new area is going great, there has been a lot of trials and difficulties, but at the same time the Lord has poured out the blessings upon us. I'm so grateful to serve with Elder Ng right now hes amazing and I love my area. We have met a lot of new friends that have a lot of potential. I love it so much. I've really never been happier. I hope we can all follow the guidance that we have just recieved from our prophets and apostles, because they know what we need to hear and do. If you follow them, you will know how to live your life in a way that your Father wants you to. And how to accomplish anything and everything! love you all and hope the best for all you. I do pray for you all to. love e wrightelder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-50257064837279637242011-04-07T07:51:00.000-07:002011-04-07T07:53:16.705-07:00One year anniversary and turning "20."On Thu, 4/7/11, Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net> wrote:

From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
Subject: hey gang! haha probably dont send this one. i have a huge head ache. sorry. i cant think.
To: "Jolene Wright" <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Date: Thursday, April 7, 2011, 1:08 AM

Hello everyone!
It's been another week here in Tai Po and it has just flown by! I can't believe how fast time is going. I have been on my mission for a year now and it feels like I just left the mtc. It's been the most amazing year of my life. I have learned and grown so much. I have had trials from health to investigators and miracles from being able to recieve names to find, to giving families the opportunity to be together for eternities and its all a part of the road that the lord has given to me. I'm so grateful for this past year and all that He has given me, it hasn't been easy, farthest thing from it, but you know I have loved every second of it! Because I know that the lord is with me twenty four hours, seven days a week, he won't leave me ( he won't leave you) because I am his son ( you too are his son or his daughter ) and I know as long as I'm doing my best, He is with me and with Him I can do ANYTHING! The past year started out rocky in the mtc, not knowing if I had a testimony, if i had enough faith to go on a mission, not knowing what in the world was going on with my health, not knowing anything pretty much, except for the fact that I was a lost sheep. As I endured those hard times of not knowing what to do, how to do it, and where to go, I learned that sometimes it's the trials that He gives us that He is showing his love and concern for us. Because I know if I didn't have those trials I wouldn't be the missionary I am today. I'm not saying I'm an amazing missionary in anyway, I have a lot to learn and a lot of areas I need to improve in, but I know that because of the trials that He has given me, He has showed to me at that time, He was concerned for me, that He loved me, He wanted me to learn from them, and make it so that I can be who I am today. He gives us trials because he wants us to learn, prepare to return to him, and to share that with others to help them prepare themselves. So from the mtc and my wavering testimony at that time, I can say that I have overcome that trial because I relied on my Father in Heaven. I promise to all of you that He listens to every single prayer, He is waiting for you to pray more to Him, He loves you and wants to help you, you need to talk to Him constantly and rely on Him so He can help you. My testimony of prayer is so strong because if I couldn't pray I don't know where I would be today. haha I can't think at all right now, sorry everyone but, you a;; know I'm trying to say is that He loves you. He is aware of you, He wants the best for you. For the first 8 weeks of my mission I will honestly tell you I didn't want to go. I had no testimony, had no desire to gain one either, it was the hardest thing ever for me, it sucked, but as time went on, and is still going on, I have come to find my savior my brother, my father, and their divine love for every single one of us. They are aware of you, they want to help you, you need to make sure you are doing your best so that you can recieve all his blessings! I can tell you today that my testimony is probably stronger than any of yours hahaha jk, but really it is. I know with Him anything is possible. I love Him so much and am so grateful for Him and all of you. Thank you for all the birthday wishes and letters. You are all amazing. Keep up the good spirits and rely on Him. Well my brain is about to explode right now, so I love you all and promise a better email next week. Sorry I can't finish this one. Raging head ache haha, need to get out of this computer center before I kill someone or punch the computer. sorry la. love you. Not to mention how incredibly gross the keyboard is that I'm having to type on! Half the keys are sticking and it's hard to type.

Elder Wrightelder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-42620674019886283252011-03-31T09:59:00.001-07:002011-03-31T09:59:47.292-07:00There have been no missionaries in this area for over 10 years. From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
Subject: hey its time for change!
To: "Jolene Wright" <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Date: Wednesday, March 30, 2011, 10:55 PM

Hey, it's me Elder Wright! How is everyone doing on this fine day! I hope and pray you are all doing amazing. I don't have much time right now, but I just want to let you all know that I am doing amazing. I have a new area, which is beautiful and I have a new companion who is a stud and I have myself who is just jolly and happy as ever. We are loving opening this area up, let me tell you something though, haha it's not the easiest thing to do. There have not been missionaries here for over 10 years. Yesterday we went and tried to visit less actives by just going to their houses and knocking on there doors. Well after 5 hours, we had over 100 less actives slam their doors in our faces. Before we could even say hello, no problem though, because we know that them seeing us was all they neeeded at this tim. They will remember the missionaries that taught them, and then through us they can remember the testimony and feelings they had at their baptisms. I'm not going to lie, it is hard going around tracking for 5 hours, going to houses that at one time they had amazing strong members and not being let into one house. Tough, but its was so much fun, I laughed every time the door got slammed in my face, my companion was just stunned. haha I loved it, because I knew that in those 5 hours, I gave them another opportunity to remember their Father in Heaven and the love that he has for them. I got to get an ice cream after we were done, so thats always a plus. strawberry and vanilla swirl.... what up now. So delicious. haha This week we have had a lot of tracting and finding time, and boy have we seen miracles, too many to share. One though that we can share. So we did weekly planning and I decided before we go to bed we were going to pray together and we were going to ask Heavenly Father to please give us a name of our new "best friend" that we can find tomorrow. We prayed and I recieved his name, Tommy. Well the next day came, we went finding, and it was a long day of rejections and a few great amazing people, just like any other day. Than right before we were about to grab a bite to eat I saw in the distance a young boy, probably 14 years old. I said to my comp, were not going to eat, we're going to go teach this boy first. We start talking to him, cute little thing he is, with quite the attitude. And we're sharing with him our purpose as missionaries and what we do, then we got into our loving Heavenly Father and how he loves every single one of us, that you my friend and elder ng are from China, I am a white person from america, but that matters not, because we are brothers and are here for the same reason, to prepare ourselves to return to live with Heavenly Father one day. To help us progress and learn all that we need to know so that we can have an eternal family. Well, he didn't have much to say for a minute, then he looks at us and says, "I am tommy and my mom listened to the missionaries 10 years ago and hasnt been able to find them since." Well this is just one of the names we recieved this week. I also received Adam, a-lahm, Thomas, and Jeff. We recieved these names every night and have found each of them the next day. I testify to all of you that h.f. listens to our prays that He will answer them if you are worthy to recieve the answer you are looking for, if you have faith, you can do anything. He loves us and knows each of us individually. He's aware of each and everyone of us and wants the best for us. Never forget that. Sometimes you may feel as if your are alone in this big world today, but remember you are not. He is here with you day in and out. This week I have felt like I have talked to my Father in Heaven even more than my companion, because I know that he will listen to me. I know that he loves me, I know he wants me to have succes and expierence trials because he wants me to learn and grow and be able to help and serve others as they go through similar circumstances. He wants me to prepare for my future, through the trials he gives me and I am so grateful for each and every single one He gives me. I love them! Elder Ng and I are loving it and so grateful for all we have been given. We love each other and our area. We love our ward. We love this time He has given us to serve him. I hope you can all find ways to help our brothers and sisters to have the same opportunity we have to have an eternal family. I hope you can find ways to serve everyone and love everyone for who they are! love them for their mistakes and love them for their rudeness. ha ha
love elder wright
1 nephi 3:7
If you have desires to serve, he will lead you to where and what you need to do and go.elder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7579029022265392406.post-28577823736897455012011-03-24T20:58:00.000-07:002011-03-24T21:00:38.184-07:00Starting a new area in North Hong Kong.....From: Jeffrey Romney Wright <jeffrey.wright@myldsmail.net>
Subject: Re: Let the computer stalking begin.....
To: "jolene wright" <jojomama13@yahoo.com>
Date: Thursday, March 24, 2011, 8:59 PM

Hey, i'ts Elder Wright, and boy has a lot happened here in Hong Kong, new companion, new area, moving across half the world ( well maybe thats what it felt like because my suit cases each way 200 pounds a piece. haha bless my heart, every other missionary has a suit case normal sized and then a carry on, well I have 3 extra large suit cases and 2 carry ons, no joke... haha so yeah moving was quite the adventure since I moved as far as I could away from civilization, just imagine it, me Elder Wright 14 billion areas, with all my suit cases on 3 trains, 2 boats and a trolly all in one day, quite the image! Everyone around me was just stunned, including the new companion that barely speaks english and weighs about the size of my left pinky toe, haha ). So leaving Kwun Tong was possibly one the hardest things I have ever done in my whole life. The friends and family I have there are people that I will never forget and hope that I will always have contact with. They are all so amazing and have changed my life in the most dramatic way. I love them all so much and miss them right now more than anything. As missionaries, we are not allowed to call people and members from our previous areas, because the Lord has given us a new area to focus on, so..... I can tell you this is going to be a huge trial of my faith. Just relying on the Lord to take care of them and relying on Him to do everything in his will for them, I have the faith he will take care of them, because I know how much I love them all, I can't even imagine how much He loves them. I can call all of my recent converts once a move, well I have already failed, because Vincent, Mary, Marc, Tyron, Lambert and Harry have all already called me. Few emails from a few of them saying, that if I wasn't going to teach them and be there with them, then they will no longer come to church and hear the lessons, so I ask all of you just to pray for them that they will continue listening and developing their desires to come unto Christ and be baptized. I know that each of them is so different, but the amazing thing is that this gospel, this message can bring anyone together no matter what language you speak, what cultures you grew up in, where you were born, what color your skin is, if you have money or don't, this message makes anyone feel like they have finally found a home, where they can get away from the world and make friends that really do love them and support them and that have a desire to help them. I know that the past 6 months I have spent in Kwun Tong I have made so many amazing friends that I will never forget, they are not only my friends right now, but my friends for all eternity. They are people that have changed my life, that have helped me develop my testimony and faith, and desire to serve with all my heart, might, mind and strength. I'm so grateful for all you that have helped me, especially all of you in Kwun Tong right now. Know that I love you and will never forget you, I will always pray for you, and maybe i'll sneak out of my area and visit you soon. p-day? probably. My last companion, I have to tell you was amazing. Elder Fogt and I had so much fun, more fun then I have ever had in my whole life, and not only did we have a blast, but we also had so much succes and so many miracles. I'm so grateful for him and all that he has taught me and shown to me. I know that I at the beginning was pretty hesitant to serve with him, I know the Lord knows who we need to be with because we will learn something from him, it may be hard, but its beyond worth it. I learned so much from him and love him so much. He called me last night just to see how it was going up here in the north and I can tell you the relationship we have is like that of brothers, and because of that relationship and the unity we had while serving together, thats why we had success. It all starts with your desires and then your companionship desires. From there anything is possible. Vincent is the man! He's doing so amazing, recieved the pristhood and soon will be going to the temple. He's a stud. I miss him more than anyone ahah, he's my best buddy here in hong. Enough about the pas,t lets talk about whats going on and what my future looks like. Well tuesday night came around and every tuesday before moves day ( which is always on thursday ) we have move calls, so Elder Fogt and I met with our district of 18, and we usually play a game to find out where we are going, and who are new companion is, well we played the game and not to many changes were happening, alot of companionships were staying the same, then I won and they said, oh Elder Wright, we can't tell you anything, you have to call President Chan in the morning, yeah what, thats not normal. Almost just jumped off the 8 floor of the building.. haha I just wanted to know so bad. Well the morning came and I got a call from the big dog, he said, Elder Wright, how are you? Do you know where you be going Elder Wright? No president, not the slightest idea, well you have a special calling for you , did you know that Elder Wright? How would I know that President? He laughed, he said Elder Wright I need your help in expanding Hong Kongs mission and making a new ward, so you and Elder Ng ( new companion, he is from Hong Kong we started our missions at the same time ) will be starting a new area, we have never done this so its going to be hard, but I know if anyone can do it, Elder Wright, its you, I have faith in you and so does your Father in Heaven. I will give you the address of a new apartment and some keys, you need to find people, make a ward, baptize, and go to work. beep beep beep. Well thanks President Chan ahah and where do we start? Well thats what I'm doing, I will be in the very north of Hong Kong, starting with nothing opening a new area up, starting with no investigators or anything, haha I'm so stoked I am just smiling so big right now. Today is the first day and I can't wait to get out there and talk to everyone. My companion is a stud. He's a small little thing, but his testimony is unlike any other. He's amazing. So I'm excited to serve with him. So excited. One problem is his english is ok la. haha So I'm hoping he can help improve my wonderful language of Cantonese, that most people just laugh when I speak. The best part is I just laugh with them. haha. Well thats it for now I got to run. Time is flying next week I will be in a new area with a new companion. It's going to be so hard to leave this area. I have put my all into this area and the people that live here. I love it here more than anything. I have been serving in kwun tong for 6 months now and have met so many amazing individuals that I will never forget and they of couse will be life long friends and family. I have learned so much while living here knowing that this area and these people are preparing me for my next area and my new friends, I am so excited to see new things and places, make new friends, and move on, but I can't tell you, words can't describe the love I have for this area and my friends here. It's going to be so difficult to leave them all behind, but I will never loose contact with them, so that is always a comforting factor. They are my brothers and sisters and I will never forget them, just like heavenly father never forgets ANY of us. Jesus left the 99 to search for the 1, as would I would do for any of them. As we should all strive to do for everyone of our brothers and sisters, no matter what circumstances they have or come from. He would do anything for anyone, He died for all, we should be able to say that we would do the same. Our lifes purpose is to follow His example so that we can return to live with him again. Hey guess what, I love you guys. I'm sitting in a Indonesian computer center, just getting yelled at in a language that is not comprehendible to my ears. Who knows whats going on or how much longer I will have access to this computer, but I'm grateful I have had these 5 minutes to email. This week has been amazing. I can't tell you how amazing it has been. I have never seen or heard so many miracles in all my mission. I remember a few weeks ago I told you about one of my best friends that got antied really bad ( happens a lot here ) anyways I called him last thurs after email and talked to him, just said I love and miss him hope we can talk one last time before he drops us, he said okay, we had a meeting with him on friday, grabbed some faahn and baau ( chinese food ) and headed backed to eat and talk. Well we had an amazing lesson, I can't tell you why this lesson was more amazing than any other lesson I have had this week, but by the end all three of us witnessed Gods hands in us missionaries and with in the life of our best friend. Not only did we know that it was h.f. but he also did. I can't tell you about this miracle because of the details that happened, but trust me that the spirit was there and through the spirit he was converted. We did not give up on him and because we didn't give up, he has found out that this is gods church on the earth today. We had our lesson on friday and planned on playing soccer with him on saturday morning. Welp, saturday morning came after our lesson and he ran up to us, with the hugest smile I have ever seen and said Elder Wright and Elder Fogt, through you two, HeavenlyFather talked to me, I prayed last night and recieved my answer that I have been striving for, for 5 months now. He has answered me and I would like to be baptized on april 10 2011. I can't tell you the chills that went through my body at the time or how strong the spirit was. But I know that we all are so loved by our Father in Heaven, He knows us individually and wants the best for us. He will NEVER give up on us. As we should never give up on our families and friends, maybe they aren't making the best decisions in life and you don't agree with the choices they are making right now, but h.f. has put you in their lives because He trusts you, He has faith in you, that you won't give up on them and that through you, you can help them rearrange their lives in a way that is pleasing to Him. He trusts you. He loves you. He wants you to help your brothers and sisters.
We also had a baptism this week. His name be Marc. I have told you about him and his amazing testimony. He's a stud. Usually when our friends get baptized we tell them to invite family and friends, but usually no one will ever come. But it was different for Marc, his mom came and brought all of her christian friends. Pretty scary for our ward members haha, but it didn't matter what church they went to, what they believed in, what they thought about us and our beliefs, but all she knew at the time of his baptism was that he had made the right choice and that she could be something that she has never felt of before and that was the holy ghost. So amazing. She was forever grateful for us two missionaries and couldn't have been more appirciative towards us. She wouldn't stop thanking us, she came up to me and said waih jeung loug ( chinese name ) " my son, over the past three weeks has changed so much, he is so happy now, he's willing to help and serve others, to love his family and spend time with us, he respects me and my husband, I can't tell you why he's changed so much but I do know its because of your teachings and this gospel, I love you and I thank you forever am I indebt to you and what you have done with my son." This is amazing. We had no idea Marc wasn't happy and not being a good boy at home, but what we did know was that this gospel could help him be happier no matter what, you can be the happiest person in the world and I promise you this gospel can make you 3242359 times happier. I testify this gospel is here on the earth today to help and guide us, to make us SMILE AND BE HAPPY> it's up to us what we do with what h.f. has given us. It's up to YOU. Marcs mom and her friends invited us over to dinner last night.. and now they have baptismal dates because they felt of the goodness of this message and of the Holy Hhost. miracles.
Tyron.... tyron be resurrected! woohoo. haha another one of my best friends here in Hong Kong, he's 18 and a rad little guyy. ( he's the one standing next to me in the ice skating pictures the chinese one of course hahaha ) He loves to hang out with us, we met him about 2 months ago. Taught him the gospel and eventually he just liked to hang out with us and didn't have much interest in learning more, just wanted to chill but ya know what happened this week, we threw down on him, we were bold and to the point, we were HONEST with him. He like lamb ( the one i talked about before we was antied yeah his name is lamb dont ask. ) was antied too, haha who isn't these days, satan has a great grasp over those who are trying to listen to what they know is right and true, he's going to try even harder to make them have no interest in hearing this message. But the holy ghost has a dominate strength that can over come satan and his temptations within a second of being in the room. Thats exactly what happened with Tyron, because we were straight up with him and honest he could feel our love for him and know that the only reason we are missionaries is because we want to help others, we love everyone, and want to help and serve everyone in the best way we can and that is through sharing this message with them. He realized that during our lesson, he felt our concern for him and our love for him and his commitment was to pray and read the b of m, so i'll give you guys an update on him and his progress next week. Being honest in all of our doings is so important, it's hard to have clean and nice thoughts all the time, I'm the worst I always have sarcastic things to say about people or what they say, so one thing I've been working on is trying to clean up my brain a little bit ( ha its needs a lot of work and its going to take years haha ) because I know that h.f. knows every thought and remark we think and say even if we don't say it out loud he knows... aiyyyaaa. haha. well I love you all and know we can work together to serve everyone and love everyone. We're all in this together, ( just like highschool musical says ahahhahaha I just died laughing how gay is that movie, oh man bless my heart) but I truely know that we really are all in this together, we are one big happy family and are on this earth at this time for each other. Keep up the smiles and the good work. every member a missionary. tag or not. You are a missionary. love you all. smile and pray for all em in japan. so sad.
love elder wrightelder Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18136257948529457653noreply@blogger.com0
