MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM HONG KONG

Merry Christmas Eve,
I love you my friends and my family,
I DON'T KNOW WHERE I WOULD BE WITH OUT ALL OF YOU AND I DON'T KNOW WHERE ANY OF US WOULD BE WITH OUT OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. I know that this christmas is going to be one of the most specatular christmas I will ever have because I am serving the Lord. What more could I ask for. I am serving Him because He died for me. I am serving the people of Hong Kong, but in reality they are the ones that are serving me and I have learned so much and I know that I will continue to learn more and more daily. I couldn't ask to be anywhere else in the world. Hong Kong needs to learn about Christ and the real meaning of Christmas and as I am sharing this divine message about Heavenly Fathers only begotten Son who died for us, I realize that growing up I never really took this message to heart and I have realized a lot of us, have not taken the true meaning of christmas to your heart. If you think you have tell me, who remembers you? what did you do for them? how did you serve them? why do they remember you? whose life did you change this year? and if you truely understand the meaning for christmas, its not only this time of the year that you will serve those around you and in need, but it is all year that you will serve. Jesus Christ died not only for you, but for all, He knows how each and every one of us feel, whether it be lonely this christmas year or happy as a bird on a spring branch, he knows how you feel and this christmas He is with you. He is with you every second of every day, you shall never feel alone, if you know what the true meaning of christmas is. He is with us 365 days a year, He will never leave us, and we should never leave Him. Never doubt. One thing that I realized is that Christmas time is a time on how we can reflect on the past year and how we can make new goals and ambitions for the coming year, how we can change what we didn't like about the previous year, and how can we develop our testimonies even more the following year? What can we do to serve others everyday? If you have been baptized and confirmed a member of this church, are you living up to all the convenants you promised to Heavenly Father? One of them was to ALWAYS (24/7) follow in Christs' footsteps? What would He do on a normal day and how are you trying to follow his footsteps? Are you constantly serving those around you. Are you loving everyone for who they are? It's really up to you. Not anyone else. You have your agency and you can choose how you can use it. When you are in front of H.F. the excuses you have down here on earth WILL NOT work up there. He knows your thoughts and your intentions all the time, every single one of them. Promise Him this year you will try harder. You will keep all the convenants you have made with Him and you will follow in His son our brothers footsteps this year.
We just had our mission Christmas party for the year and it was a blast. It is always so great to see all the missionaries especially the ones that came to Hong Kong with me. This next month on jan 6 we will celebrate 6 months in hong kong together. The sisters have hit their half way point and aren't to excited about that. All of our phillipino sisters are going home this week and its so sad. They are the nicest little things. We will for sure miss them. Our mission is continueing to get smaller and smaller. Sister Cecil is now in my district. She is serving in Tsuen Kwan o and I am still in kwun tong. Mary and Vincent both have been confirmed members of the church and are doing amazing. Vincent loves helping us teach and is constantly causing miracles, he's a stud. Jason will be baptized way soon. He is from mainland China and loves the gospel so much. He's never heard of any of it, not even God. So it's all new to him and he is embracing it and putting it into his life, sharing it with all to hear. He is so excited to get baptized and share this message with his friends and family in mainland. We also have a new friend Ernest, hes a way neat kid and very smart. He is, as well as, Jason working his way towards baptism. We have dennis and the gang, my basketball ballaasssss is what we call them and we also have arcle and jesse, ( A whole bunch of teen-20s boys ) they are all hearing the lessons and loving them. Brother Wohng now has a bapt date, but its a little hard for him to quit smoking. He has 2 little boys and a wife all from mainland and now live in Hong Kong now, everyone is a member but him, so we shared about eternal families and the power of the priesthood and he has made the decision that family is more important than those freakin cigarretes. WOOOHOOO. Everyone is doing great me and Elder Fogt included. We are loving every second of our mission and would'nt ask to be anywhere else for this Christmas season. I love my family and friends and miss them a ton, I truely do, but I also really love the people here. This is a new family that I will be spending Christmas with and I couldn't love them anymore. They are the best family I could ask for. I love you all and wish you all a Merry Christmas and I hope that you can make it the best Christmas yet. Who will remember your name this year?
Love
Elder Wright

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM CHINA! HAHA WE DON'T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS HERE, SO INSTEAD WE JUST HAVE MARIAh CAREY CHRISTMAS TUNES BLASTING IN OUR APARTMENT... ALL DAY HAHA THATS THE ONLY ENGLISH CHRISTMAS MUSIC THEY HAD. HAHA WOOHOO. IT'S BEEN A GREAT START OF A GREAT NEW YEAR. THIS WEEK WE HAVE HAD TWO BAPTISMS, VINCENT AND MARY, BOTH OF THEM ARE SO PREPARED AND HAVE THE STRONGEST TESTIMONIES. LAST SUNDAY WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY MISSION. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW STRONG THE HOLY GHOST WAS THAT DA,Y BUT I CAN TELL YOU WITHOUT DOUBT, MY HEART AND EVERYONE FELT THE SPIRIT THAT DAY. NOT ONE PERSON LEFT THAT ROOM DOUBTING THAT THIS WAS THE TRUE CHURCH. THE HOLY GHOST PENETRATED EVERYONES HEART THAT DAY, DEEPENING THEIR TESTIMONIES AND LOVE FOR CHRIST AND WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR US. BOTH VINCENT AND MARY COME FROM SUCH DIFFERENT BACK GROUNDS. BOTH BORN IN MAINLAND CHINA IN COMPLETEY DIFFERENT AREAS. BOTH HAD TO LEARN SEVERAL LANGUAGES AND HAD THEIR OWN LIFE CHALLENGES SO DIFFERENT. THEY ARE ONLY SIMILAR IN ONE WAY AND THAT IS THAT THEY KNOW THIS CHURCH IS TRUE AND HEAVNLY FATHER LOVES THEM AND KNOWS THEM INDIVIDUALLY. THATS ALL IT TAKES TO MAKE ENEMIES IN BEST FRIENDS. THE SPIRIT CAN AND DOES WORK MIRACLES EVERYDAY. WE HAVE MET A LOT OF NEW FRIENDS THIS WEEK THAT HAVE A LOT OF POTENTIAL AND I'M SO EXCITED TO HELP THEM ALONG THE WAY AND PRAY THAT THE HOLY GHOST WILL TOUCH THEIR HEARTS AS HE HAS ALL OF US IN THE PAST. TODAY I WENT TO THE TEMPLE, BUT ITS WAS ONE OF THE MOST EXTRADORNIARY EXPERIENCES I'VE HAD AT THE TEMPLE. I'LL TELL YOU WHY HAHA, USUALLY I JUST KNOW IM GOING AND GO FOR THE RIDE AND TO FEEL THE COMFORT OF WHICH I DO WHEN I ENTER THE LORDS HOUSE, BUT TODAY I WENT FOR A REASON, I HAD QUESTIONS TO ASK, I FASTED THAT I COULD FIND ANSWERS. TODAY, I WENT TO THANK HIM FOR LETTING ME SERVE HIM AT THIS TIME, TO BE ABLE TO HELP IN HIS WORK, THIS IS'NT MY TWO YEARS, ITS HIS AND I'M SO THANKFUL HE HAS GIVEN ME THIS OPPORTUNITY, TO FIND OUT HOW I CAN DEVELOP MY TESTIMONY DAILY AND HOW CAN I BETTER MY LIFE TO HELP THE PEOPLE HERE. I LOVE THESE PEOPLE SO DANG MUCH. I NEVER WANT TO LEAVE THEM. HONG KONG IS SO SPECIAL AND THE PEOPLE ARE SO READY FOR THE GOSPEL! IT'S BEEN TRUELY THE BIGGEST BLESSING TO BE ABLE TO SERVE HERE. I KNOW THAT WITH FAITH AND OBEDIENCE YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING IN LIFE. WITH TRUE DESIRES AND WILLINGNESS TO SERVE EVERYONE THAT H.F. WILL BLESS YOU. SO I'LL TELL YOU A COOL STORY THAT HAPPENED BEFORE I HAVE TO GO. SO I JUST GOT DONE BAPTIZING VINCENT AND THE WATER WAS FREAKIN FREEZING HHAH, BUT IT WENT AMAZING AND NEXT WAS MARY, SHE WAS BEYOND NERVOUS AND SHE STARTED WALKING DOWN THE STAIRS AND JUST FROZE, SHUT HER EYES AND STARTED TEARING UP A LITTLE. SO I GRABBED HER HAND AND PULLED HER DOWN INTO THE WATER. CALMED HER DOWN AND SHE LOOKS AT ME IN THE EYES AND SAYS " ELDER WRIGHT, MY HEART WAS SO COLD, I WASN'T SURE IF I COULD DO THIS, IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR 40 YEARS NOW AND ITS FINNALY HERE, AND THEN REALLY FAST SHE LOOKS AT ME AND SAYS MY HEART AND MY BODY JUST GOT SO WARM AND THAT ELDER WRIGHT IS THE SPIRIT, HEAVENLY FATHER IS HERE WITH ME TODAY AND I AM TAKING THIS STEP SO THAT I CAN HAVE AN ETERNAL FAMILY SO THAT I CAN RETURN TO HIS PRESENCE AGAIN AND ELDER WRIGHT ONE YEAR FROM NOW WHEN YOU GET DONE WITH YOUR MISSION I WANT TO TO COME TO THE SEALING OF MY DAUGHTERS AND I IN THE TEMPLE. YOU HAVE FOUND ME AND YOU HAVE GIVEN ME THIS OPPORTUNITY THAT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE FOR EVER. AND THEN SHE GOT BAPTIZED." THATS AMAZING. SHES HAS ONLY BEEN SEEING MISSIONARIES FOR ABOUT ONE MONTH NOW AND HER TESTIMONY IS SO STRONG. THERE ARE PEOPLE JUST LIKE HER, LIVING ALL AROUND YOU. YOU NEED TO FIND THEM AND GIVE THEM THIS OPPORTUNITY. THEY WON'T FIND YOU, YOU NEED TO FIND THEM, OPEN YOUR FREAKIN MOUTHS AND HELP IN THE WORK. PRESIDENT MONSON IS ENCOURAGING WHO EVER IS WORTHY AND HAS A DESIRE TO SERVE THE LORD. DOES'NT MATTER IF YOU HAVE A NAME TAG OR NOT, ITS A COMMANDMENT THAT HE HAS GIVEN ALL OF US. WHEN WE ARE IN THE SERVICE OF OUR FELLOW BEING WE ARE ONLY IN THE SERIVE OF OUR H.F.... SERVE SERVE SERVE. I LOVE YOU ALL AND HOPE THAT YOU CAN ALL REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS WORK! AND THAT YOU ARE NEEDED. THE PROPHET SPEAKS FOR HEAVENLY FATHER AND IF YOU IGNORE HIM AND DON'T DO ANYTHING, YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH SAYING I AM NOT WILLING TO KEEP YOUR COMMANDMENTS AND I DO NOT LOVE YOU NOR WILL I RESPECT YOU. HE HAS GIVEN YOU SO MUCH. YOUR FAMILY, HIS ONLY BEGOTTON SON, THIS GOSPEL, EVERYTHING YOU HAVE, THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS SERVE HIM AND GIVE HIM YOUR ALL. LOVE AND HOPE YOU ARE MAKING THE BEST OF YOUR CHRISTMAS SEASON AND HOLIDAY, THAT YOU FIND A FAMILY THAT YOU CAN SERVE AND MAKE THEIR CHRISTMAS UNFORGETABLE! LOVE YOU ALL.

Wise counsel from a missionary.....

Hello Friends and Family>

This week has been great and I've had some life changing experiernces that I would love to share with you.
Scripture of the week: Alma 37:6
"Now you may suppose tat this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise."

Think of the temple.....Why do you go? What is your purpose? Think of your very first time entering the lords house. Imagine never having that opportunity. Never being able to do baptisms for the dead, an endownment session, let alone getting married and sealed in the temple. You are so fortanuate. I never realized how privlidged and honored we are to have temples so close to us. I, with out a doubt, took that for granted growing up. Hong kong is the closest temple for millions of members and hardly any of them will ever get the privalege to even SEE the temple. Yet most of us have one within an hour of our front door steps, if not less. WOrk needs to be done. Are you helping assist in the lords work? Do you realize how sacred it is to be so blessed. There are so many people around the world that would die to be YOU. Think about it. We hear stories of people working their whole lives, having 6 jobs or more, selling meaningful family items, doing all the can having an eye single to the glory of god, to make it to his house and most likely they'll never get that chance. You need to go for those that can't. It's up to you, no one else can. Satan can tempt you, but can't make you do anything. It's all up to you. You decide now, who will you serve today?

Less actives, there is a lot of them. Not just here in hong kong, but in your wards in america and through out the entire world. Most have been offened by a member whether its you or someone else in the ward, they were offeneded. ( not always the case but a high percentage ) What is your definition of a less active. I'll tell you mine. A less active to me means that this is my brother or sister, this is one of gods sons or daughters, He loves them as much as He loves me, they have a strong testimony that needs to be rekindled by ME or YOU. At one time, they felt the spirit of conversion and gods love for them individually, through lives trials their roots were not deep enough in the gospel to help them overcome lives hardships but I CAN AND WILL help them deepen their roots with h.f.'s help. It's up to us to rekindle the feeling they had at their baptism. Do you know whose less activie in your ward? Do you know why? If not, why not? The convenants you took out at baptism were that you would keep all of gods commanmends and strive to follow Chirsts' footsteps in EVERYTHING YOU DO. What do you think He would do and say to these sheep that have fallen off the path? Do you remember the story of the the 100 sheep and one stray? Well, theres a lot more than one stray right now.... Jesus left the 99 and searched for that 1. He searched until he found that 1. He did not give up, he brought them back to church and helped them along the way. He would shower them with all his love. As his repersestative ( you andIi ) you are to do the same, if not you fail indeed.

How many members do we have in the church?
How many are 100% active?
Less active?
WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE>
There is a big difference in the numbers when you take this into consideration. Its time to help all of our brothers and sisters come back unto Christ. But, they aren't going to come alone. They need a FRIEND. They need you. It's up to us, as members, to bring them back. To show them what they are missing in life. Christ loves them and needs them. It's upon our shoulders now. Its upon YOUR shoulders now.

If you don't walk as most people do, some people walk away from you, but I won't! I won't! If you don't talk as most people do, some people talk and laugh at you, but I won't! I won't! I'll walk with you, I'll talk with you, thats how I'll show my love for you. Jesus walked away from none. He gave his love to everyone. So I will! I will! Jesus blessed all he could see then turnded and said "COME FOLLOW ME." and I will! I will! I will! will! I'll talk with you, thats how I'll show my love for you!

It's as simple as that. We can emulate Christs' love just by talking and being someone friends, lending a ear for those that need some guidance, talking to those that don't have friends. We are all so different, yet all so similar. We all have trials to overcome, and we all have Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to lean on at anytime and anywhere.

Hong kong this week has been spectacular. It's been a blast. It's always a rocky start getting use to a new companion and seeing how every companion does stuff so different. It's an amazing learning and growing experience. Lovin it so much. Elder fogt is great. Such a cool guys. All of our investigators are doing so great. We have 3 baptisms on December 12 and they are all progressing so much. Their individual testimonies are amazing. It's so amazing to look back at day one, up to now. What a blessing. The spirit of conversion is true. The holy ghost is true. He is their. Our language may not be perfect, we are trying our best to have the best language possible, but that does not matter because there is one language we can all understand and thats the language of the holy ghost. It can penetrate anyone. Thanksgiving was great here in hong kong. Its now december 2 and i cant believe at how fast time is going by. To fast. 8 months out in the field. Cant believe it. Slow down slow down. This week has been spectacular and im loving every second of my mission. I couldnt be more grateful. I love the people so much. I love the language, the food, the culture, I love everything. Never want to leave. I hope you all have an amazing christmas and happy new year. Really think about the meaning of christmas, who can you serve. I give you all one commitment because I can do that as a missionary. That commitment this year is. We have 23 days left until christmas, try to emulate Christs example and serve one person a day. Thats all and I promise you, that you will recieve so many blessings so many.
I love you all.

BEST TURKEY DAY EVER!!!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Its me elder wright haha and no they do not celebrate thanksgiving in hong kong nor have 99% of them even heard of it. Turkey ha no where to be found. nor mashed potatoes or rolls or butter or gravy or stuffing or apple cider or anything that has to do with thanksgiving. Haha but the mission did their own little thanksgiving with the best they could. It was a blast. Since the mission in so small we were able to see everyone and get everyone together from macau ( one of the other countries thats in our mission ), international ( english speaking part of our mission ), and hong kong ( the chinese work ). Its always so great to see everyone. We are now down to around 85-90 missionaries here in hong kong! crazy. My new companion is elder fogt from boston/ alpine utah. Hes way smooth and a hard worker. I have a lot to learn from him as i do every companion. Are investigators are doing great. Jason will be baptized after he meets with president chan. Haha he has to get interviewed with president chan because hes been in jail. But the change that i have been able to see in him has been dramatic, from a gang street fighter to helping us go contacting and teaching lessons all with in such a short amount of time. Miracle. Than Mary and her twin daughters. This will be quite a special baptism might i say. She doesn't want to be baptized in a font, so she told us she had a dream and it was about her place of baptism. She wants to be like jesus and be baptized in the ocean or a river. She has asked me to do her baptism and we have the most beautiful ocean area that it will take place in. It took a lot of asking to allow this, but its all great. I can't wait. Baptize someone in the ocean? so legit. haha and all of our investigators are doing great. i dont have much time or i'd type more about them. Kwun tong ( my area ) is so dang great. the people are so prepared and willing to listen to our message. This week has been full of miracles, as is every other week. One in paticular was last night. We were contacting and about to go meet one of our investigators to teach a lesson and we got a call from one of our less actives we've been trying to re activate. His name is HINHIN and hes about 16 years old and hasn't come to church for a long time, most of his life. Well we were walking to meet our lesson and we get a call. Earlier in the day i had a feeling to check and make sure i had my oil something that i usually dont think about, just assume its in my backpack. But i checked and it wasnt there, so i just got a vile and threw it in my pocket, i didn't know why. Hin hins mom called us 2 minutes before our lesson and said, elder wright this is hinhins mom, ( less active mom and family going through a hard divorce ) and i answered, she said i need you to come to my house and fast we don't know if hin hin is going to make it, his dad doesn't have the priesthood and i want you to give him a blessing. hurry and hung up. We were about 30 minutes away from her house and we just sprinted the whole time in our suits. It was blistering hot. and we got to her house and hin hin is just not looking good at all. looked like death had already took him. Before we gave him a blessing we talked to him about the importance of a blessing and how its dependent on the reicievers faith. and We gave it to him and told him so many crazy miracles. We opened our eyes and he starting talking, just mom bawling, just telling us how much she felt the spirit and knew that whatever happens thats what god wants to happen. Hin hin is doing great now. The only reason that he was able to return to 100% health is because of his faith. I know that faith is something that you hear about every sunday, something that 97% of you over look and don't take seriously. Faith is hoped for and not seen. With faith you can move mountains, with faith you can do as christ and his father can do, with faith you can do ANYTHING. You can heal the sick, make the poor rich, and bless those in need of blessings. I bear testimony to you if you have faith he will answer every question and concern you have. One thing that i have learned on my mission that i have to apply to my life, 24 hours of every freakin single day is never to compare yourself with anyone. He gives us trials and hardships to grow, not to feel depressed, not to be sad, but to make them into opportunties, to achieve the world, to become more like him, to be an example of christ, to develop a stronger relationship with him. He gave you all you have, to show you how blessed you are. We have so much to be thankful for. Right now i just want to say thanks to all my friends, all of them i wouldn't be here if it were for you. theres so many i dont even know where to start. you all have taught me so much, from every single one of you i have learned so much, you have helped me to grow, my own testimony and prepare myself to meet my father again. You are all so amazing and i truely thank you right now. I love you. i want the best for you. i wnat you to have happiness and success in life. i know that you can do that as long as you stay strong in the gospel and rely on jc and hf daily and constantly. they can help you get through anything! I next want to thank all my leaders and teachers in my life. There are a few that stick out in my mind as i write this letter, brother mihu! wow, he put up with my crap for a few years and he inspired me to become a missionary, to really live my life the way hf wants me to, he never pushed me, never forced me, but he was just my friend. day in and out, no matter what stupid things i was doing, he loved me, sister hales shes the best teacher one could have. she loved all her students and she wanted them all to succeed and she didnt care what any one else thought, she would die for her students well being, bishop larson, wow the worlds best bishop ,man i cant say enough good things about him. Reed noble, he always was a great friend to my father and through his example i learned how to treat my good friends and how i want to emulate my christlike love towards all. and theres so many more, but such a short time. all so amazing. if i didnt mention you. just know that i love you and you did change my life. Last but not least, my amazing family. I can't imagine living here with out them. they make me so dang happy. lauren lindsay my mom and dad. wow. i love them more than words can express. they are my greatest mentors in life, great examples. we clearly have the most amazing family on this earth today haha jk. but really. my family has loved me through out my whole life. constantly and i have no doubt if it werent for them i wouldnt be the man i am today. they helped me to find who i am and who i need to be. We went through trials together. We have so many amazing memories that i will never forget. Lauren shes always smiling and loves everyone, she really emulates christlike love towards everyone, she gets along with anyone and really knows how to handle a friendship knows what to say and when to say it, she is bomb diggity, lindsay if you ever need a laugh go to her, she can always make me laugh and lift me up, shes quite an amazing individual and can get through any storm that hf gives her, my mom wow she emulates every freakin christlike attribute there is, you all know how i feel about my mom shes AMAZING, my father the hardest worker i have ever met, he will do anything for his family, his love is like unto the saviors i have no doubt hed do anything for me. He honestly is the best man i have ever met, never will he give up, never will he stop, never will he say never. there is always a way with him it doesnt matter it can and will be accomplished. My grandparents, the wright, they are amazing, always supporting me in everything i do, they will do anything for me and i can rely on them for anything, both of them are so smart and have lived life to its fullest potential. Granmda romney hahaha i love her so dang much. my family is the best thing that has happened and will ever happen to me. It is the center of the message that we share and we are given these families to love, protect and grow together. lil fish keep it strong you are the bomb memories last a lifetime.

Family and Friends,

I can't believe how fast this last move went by and it was actually the longest move we will have. They extended it an extra week and it went by faster than any move yet. The last move has honestly been the best 2 months of my life. I can't tell you how grateful i am for elder liu and the area. We have worked so hard and built kwun tong up so much. When we got here, they had nothing. Elder liu had been serving here for about 8 months and i was brand new to the area. They had not one investigator, but with our faith, love, and dillegence, that all changed. We became the number one companionship in the entire mission. We worked so hard and had so much fun at the same time. We have made so many friends and loved learning from them and teaching them about this spectacular message. This message we share is so uniquie and unlike anything you will ever hear. It can make anyone feel glad. One thing that i have really focused on this last move was, instead of focusing on guys and teenagers, i tried focusing on families and it honestly has been the best thing. While we still do have a lot of men investigators, being able to watch a family change and grow together has been so amazing. It has changed my life so much. To watch satan work on them and try to drive them away from us, and to see them overcome him and trust in the lord and our message, wokring together has been such a miracle. They aren't just a few people prepared in this world, everyone is prepared! Anyone can be prepared but you have to share this message with them so that they can prepare themself for it. YOU have to have the spirit with you at all times to direct you in your paths, to help you walk the path that hf wants to you walk. Elder liu and i have loved serving with each other and this last week we have made the best of it because we found out that i will be staying in kwun tong to help train a missionary and he will be moving opening a new area in hong kong. Both huge responsibilities, but through this last move we have both grown together and are prepared for this coming move. My new companion is amazing. His name is Elder Fogt from Utah. He lives in Highland. He's way cool, i knew him a little before and we are so excited to serve with each other. It should be excellent. Vincent is doing amazing. He is unreal. He is so prepared but only because we prepared him and SHARED THIS MESSAGE of love and friendship with him. My district is great. The weather in hong kong is cooling down and is suppose to get quite cold, its been really nice not sweating buckets every single day. I love serving so much. My language is coming and im so grateful for that hahah. I can understand a lot more than i can speak. Tones are coming a little slower than i want, but its all good because where he calls he qualifies and i figure i'm doing all that i can and being 100% obedient so thats what the people need to hear right now. We have a few baptisms coming up this week. We have a couple of families and a couple of new rad teenage boys around 19-26 years old. They are all so different. I have really fallin in love with the chinese people. I love them so much. I feel as if i am one of them. This morning we woke up at 4 am and did a hike as a distrcit before we exchanged companions for the last time. We got to the top of Lion Peak and got the opportunity to see all of hong kong and watched the sun rise over 15 million people. I have a funny quote, " God loves these chinese people, because if he didnt he wouldnt have made so freakin many" by: Elder nelson. If thats not funny you need a reality check asap. I about died laughing at that. Because how true is that. I know that hf loves these people and im so glad that through me he can express that love. I am so grateful to be able to serve here in hong kong. A mission was the best idea that i have ever done. It has changed my life for the best and given me so much better out looks on life. We have so much to be grateful for, just to wake up in the morning, to be apart of the only true gospel on the earth. Not everyone has this opportunity to know what we do, you need to share, thats why you have it. If your not sharing it, you are not fufilling your life purpose. Thats why he sent YOU down to the earth, thats why he gave you the opportunity to be apart of this church and if your not sharing it with everyone you know and come in contact with you are a failure. I love you all so much, i want every young man to serve a mission i know it seems long, boring to some, and not worth while, but i PROMISE you that if you give it a try, you will NEVER regret it. Start preparing now. Missionary work was the very first thing talked aobut this last conference. President monsons first address was about missionary work. If you love god, then you will follow the direction that our prophets have given us, they speak for him and if you love him, you WILL follow and do, you will act upon his words. Young men of cedar hills 13 ward or ( whatever the new wards are ) im talking to you right now and all the young men i know. Reality check is that you need to prepare today, right now so that you can be ready to serve the lord when you are 19 years old. Its hard but its worth it. Its so MUCH FUN. I love you and bear testimony to you that hf loves you and is very aware of YOU, he wants you to be happy, to have success, to live your life to its fullest potential, if you dont feel that, that is your fault you need to figure out why, pray to him ask him and he will answer if you have FAITH and a REAL DESIRE. dnc29:6 ( i think could be wrong vincent has my scriptures. I love you all and know as oyu continue on your path, that hf is with you, your path was made for you individually no one else will go through all you do, but he HAS PREPARED A WAY FOR YOU> figure it out and hold tight to the iron rod.

"I can't understand what these dang people are saying!"

Family and Friends,
Yiga ngoh mhhoyih gong yigman gam ngoh yiu gong gwongdungwa. mhhoyihsi. Leihge sing keih ho mh ho a? ngoh ngo leihdeih. This week i am not allowed to speak english all week just cantonese to help improve this freakin langauge. haha. its one of the hardest things ive done. so humbling. so humbling. learning the worlds hardest langauge is an understatement. my tones are still all over the place , lets be honest i can not tell if its high, medium, low, high falling, medium rising, low medium rising, who on earth knows hahah. This week has been amazing. A week full of miracles more than ever. We were contacting one day and a family came up to us asked what we do and why a white person is here. They were very rude at the beginning when talking to me. Quite racist. But as i talked to them and taught them more and more, they opened up they could feel the spirit and came to want to learn more. This mom and two daughters now have a baptismal date in three week. Elder liu and i are doing amazing. best in the mission. We have so much fun and work harder than anyone. My language is coming. Everyday is a new day and a new opportunity to grow and learn. We learn from the past but we do not dwell on the past. Look for the future. Read alma 26. Ponder it. Find the message within it and apply it to your life. We have vincents baptism this sunday im so excited. He has asked me to do the whole thing. Crazy. He is my first real find and first one i have found on my own and taught him everything. Its going to be such a spiritual amazing experience im really so humbled to know that hf is aware of me and knows who i need to talk to and what i need to do and he really knows us individually and knows what we need. He knows what trials we need. He gives us those trials to learn. Have faith in him. He loves you. I love you. Hong kong is amazing. i ate a lot of new things this week with some weird taste.
1. pigs blood ( coagulated )
2. cow stomach
3. goose intestines
4. pig liver
5. 1000 year old eggs
So you can say i have tried about the grossest thing known to man. Some arent that bad. The egg was the worst for me. Than the liver. The texture is what got me on the liver. Oh man. haha. well keep up the good work and i love you all so much. I hope your holidays have had a great start and continue to feel your fathers love everyday.

It's me elder wright with a broken computer from hong kong haha. What a joy it is to email you.
Theres only one thing that i want you to read this week, a talk called " Beware of Pride, by:Elder Benson"

So let me catch you up on my hong kong experience this week and some fun stories,
Hong kong is amazing I love it so much and there's not a better place in the world. It's so unique. Its amazing. So grateful for the opportunity that I have to serve a mission here and get to know my brothers and sisters all throughout hong kong. My language is still coming. Working on it every day. Starting monday I'm doing an english fast. That means that I can not speak english for 2 weeks at all. 100% cantonese and any other language. So thats just going to be a joy. haha Probably not much talking for the next two weeks haha. oh man. It's going to be tough, but it will help my cantonese improve so much. It's going to be great. Here in Hong Kong one thing I can never remember when we go out, is that the water they serve you is ALWAYS boiling hot . Never will you be served or have cool or cold or room temp water. haha, and everytime I get to a restrauant or somehwere to drink or a members house I'm usually so thirsty and just want 90345689056 gallons of water and thats the first thing I do is grab the cup and start downing it. Needless to say that my tongue has 8 degree burns and is going to fall of any day soon. I should know better, but I just can't remember. One funny dinner story I'm still in complete and utter shock. You aren't going to believe me, but this honestly happened. haha. YOu ready? Well this week a member took us out to eat. Elder Liu and I we were so stoke. We get to this ghetto place and a employee takes us to the back and says choose a monkey and we look and theres a huge cage of monkies. I was thinking that she wanted us to help her pick out a new monkey pet, so I chose the best one of course and was playing with it. And then the guy grabs it and we follow him, he sits us down and ties the monkey to the middle of the table. Grabs a machette ( knife huge one ) and chops the top of the monkies skull off and pours burning oil on its brain and its screaming and everyone started eating its brain. Yes, I'm for real right now. I did not take part of this animal cruelty, nor did I eat my fellow pets brain. haha This is probably the worst thing I've seen thus far on my mission. Moving on. Our investigators. We have some amazing investigators right now. The best thing of my mission so far is being able to see the change in peoples lives. It really has touched me and im so grateful to be part of it. Vincent, is one of our investigators he's going to be baptized on november 7 and he's asked me to do it. I'm so stoked. I found vincent one day and its my first real find and teaching from day one to baptism. So its been the best experience and I will never forget it. He calls me every night to just talk. Hes such a stud. I'm so excited for him. We have a couple families as well. Yesterday I had an amazing experience. I just didn't want to go contacting just so sick of it, day after day but I was out there just walking the streets and just said a prayer, asking heavnly father to give me will power and strength to give it my all and love it. Within 2 minutes this mom and children run up to me and say I see something different about you. I want to know what your teaching right now. So on the street I taught her the first lesson. AMAZING> She and her family will be baptized in 3 weeks. They say hong kong is not a spanish baptizing mission, but that is false! With faith anything is possible. Every mission can have a lot of success, if you honestly believe it and I've seen that day after day here in hong kong. I hope that you are all trying your best, to be the best disciple of christ and following Him in his footsteps. I love you and hope that you have a great halloween. KEEP THE SABBATH DAY HOLY> read that talk it will help you to draw nearer to your father in heaven.

TYPHOON MEGI......

--------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Jeffrey Romney Wright

Subject: Hello Megi!
To: Jolene Wright

Hey hey hey,

TYPHOON MEGI!!! wooohooo should be here tomorrow. Biggest Hurricane of the year. so stoked!

Movin on.
Yet while there may be thorns and disappointments while there may be heartache even heartbreak there can be peace and comfort and strength from the lord for those who follow him. for it is the lord himself who said:
"Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and i will give you rest" " take my yoke upon you and learn and learn of me, for i am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls"
It is the lord who has said that if we keep the commandments the holy ghost shall be our constant companion ( dnc 121:26 ) to buoy us up to teach us, lead us, comfort us, and sustain us. to obtain this companionship we need to ask for it, to live it, and to be loyal to the lord.
I think that mormon knew very well from his own experience the truth of his words that the : comforter filleth with hope and perfect love, which love endureth by dilligence unto prayer until the end shall come, when all the saints shall dwell with god" Though we may sometimes be alone while among those of the world weneed not be lonely for the lord has given us the holy ghost to be our companion to walk with us.
In addition the lord has given us others with whom we may associate and thereby build up our spirits and strengthen our courage disciples of like mind, oflike heart, of like spirit. As the apostle paul said we ne longer need be strangers... but fellowcitizens with the saints and of the household of god". to the thessalonians he wrote of sustaining one another:
" Where for comfort yourselvestogether and edify one another... and we beseech you to know them which labour among you.... and to esteem them very highly in love for their works sake"
Though discipleship with the lord requires times of standing humbly and courageiously apart the lord will not forsake us. He also given us the association of others who can edify and strengthen us as we go about our work of blessings others in the world. And if we are prayerful and loyal to him and his commandments the lords promise can be applicable to us. I will go before your face. "I will be on your right hand and your left and my spirit shall be in your hears and mine angels round about you to bear you you!!!!!" (dnc 84:88 one of my favs ) This is a promise from the lord. I believe it. and beartestimony of it. The lordand always will bless you as you step out of the darkness of the world into the light of the everlasting gospel. May he bless us all to walk humbly and courageously and to know in our hearts that peace which comes from squaring ones life with principle the peace which passeth all understanding ( Philip 4:7)

This week in hk has beeen so bomb, i had the chance to go out to dinner with a-dick one of my good friends from tin sui wai which is up by yuen long. he came down to visit and eat with us. So tight. hes the man. so funny. than we had 24 hour exchanges and i went on to the island with elder fogt so we had such a good time. nice break its so nice to change thing up for a little while.Elder fogt is way chill. he went to lone peak year older than me and has been out for 8 months so its been a blast. All of our investigators are doing amazing. Vincent in paticular is doing so good. Hes my best friend. He hangs out with us all the time. Hes 19 and a total punk but yet hes changed his whole life for this church. Its been amazing to see thechange in him. He wants baptism so bad. His testimony is probably stronger than man. He just loves to call and go contacting and teaching and just doing anything with us its so tight. i love that guy.Other than that i know this church is true and there are miracles everyday. no doubt about it. i seem them constantly. love you all so much. ctr. and keep SMILING!

BEST PDAY YET!!!!!

Dear friends,
Here is the latest letter from Jeffrey. It's worth a few minutes of your time to read, his positive attitude is infectious! Bishop Larson paid Jeffrey a visit while in Hong Kong. He wrote Jeffrey almost every day while he was struggling in the MTC! He hand delivered homemade cookies to him in Hong Kong, while there on business this past week. I promise you, that our positive acts of kindness do make a big difference! Don't ever under estimate the simple smile, or wave or just saying hello. Not to mention giving someone CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!!!!!

Family and Friends,
Hello from hong kong! Its been the best pday yet!

Heres this weeks email:

It is easy enough to be pleasant,
when life flows by like a song,
but the man worth while is one who will smile,
when everything goes dead wrong.

For the test of the heart is trouble,
and it always comes with the years,
and the smile that is worth the praises of the earth,
is the smile that shines through tears.

Alma 40: 23 & 25 ( read it ponder it pray about it )

Song for the week is page 241 " Count your many blessings" All Verses
You have family, a house, food to eat, opportunties to wake up each morning and breathe fresh air, you have the knoweldge of this gospel and you have the holy ghost, and you have the agency to choose right from wrong, good from evil, uplifting thoughts and spiritual strength or destructing thoughts which leads to spiritual death, you can make any trial in to the best time of your life. if you have faith and a desire. Its up to you. Satan can tempt you, tell you all sorts of crap but he has no physical power or strength over you at all. He can not make you do ANYTHING. THats your choice to listen or not. Our earthly choices are our eternal consequences!

To all of you whom from anguish of heart and saddness of soul who have silently asked " Heavenly Father are you really there? Do you hear my prayers? Do you see me struggeling? Why arent you helping me?" I promise to all of you. He is aware of you. He knows you individually and knows exactly how you feel. I bear witness to you he is there. He does hear and answer all your prayers. He loves you. Have faith and doubt not. D&C 6:36 where there is doubt the spirit cant and will not dwell. Have faith.

There follows the inevitable blaming of oneself, the condemnation ofa careless action and the perennial questions: " Why such a tragedy in our family?" Why didnts i keep her/him home? If only he hadnt gone to that party? How did this happen? Where was god? Where was a protecting angel?" If why where how- those recurring words- do not bring back the lost son, the perfect body, the plans of parents and friends, or the dreams of youth. Self pity personal withdrawal or deep despair will not bring the peace the assurance or help which are needed. rather we must go forward look upward move onward and rise heavenward. It is imperative that we recognize that whatever has happened to us has happened to others. They have coped and so must we. We are NOT ALONE. HEAVENLY FATHERS HELP IS NEAR.

CONFERENCE WAS SO DANG GOOD!
some of my favorite talks:
In order...
Monson- the first thing talked about was that every young man should remain worthy to serve a mission, be worthy and the desperate need for senior missionaires.. do you think that missionary work is important? first thing said. i think so.. Are you helping your local ward missionaires? 80% of baptisms come through ward members. Pick your game up and start keeping all the commandments because missionary work is one.
Jeffrey R. Holland- so uplifting. thanks elder monson
Uchtdorf- Slow down and 4 key points ( READ THEM!!!) One of my favorites
Anderson- Be like unto a child. YOu are a leader of the world, ACT LIKE IT. Lord has not left us alone nor will he!
Kearon- Read or watch this one ( in my top two favorite of all the talks i loved this one! )
Uceada- " IM SORRY "
Uchtdorf- Beware of pride, read it. so dang good. loved this one so much.
Monson- The 3 R's. 1. right of choice 2. responsibilty to choose 3. Result of choice.
Haha the rest were in chinese so i got what i got out of them i could be way wrong with my translations.... haha oh man. it was a journey sitting through those.
Packer- very straight forward, do NOT look back. I promise you peace and happiness when you look to the future!
WOULD YOU...
THINK IT... IF HE
SAY IT.... WERE IN FRON
DO IT...... OF YOU?
I TELL YOU HES IN FRONT OF YOU EVERY FOOTSTEP YOU TAKE, SO WHAT YOU THINK SAY AND DO IS CRUCIAL NOW BECAUSE THE CHOICES YOU DO NOW WILL GUIDE AND DECIDE YOUR ETERNAL CONSEQUENCES!
BALLARD- Loved the fishing analogy so much loved it.

You shall never be in the darkness when you following Jesus Christ the light of the world.
3/4's of the talks gave main topics ex: 1-4, 1-14 ( given in two talks ) They give them to us to follow and receive the blessings that they will and do give us.

This week from hong kong has been my best week yet. I have an amazing suprise visit from my Ct. Bishop and went out to dinner with him He is the best love him so much! Brought some of the most delicious chocolate chip cooks with him so dang good! Havent had a cookie in months! Our investigator pool continues to grow. I gave a flyer out to a lady on the train systems here just because she was reading my name tag and tlaked to her for awhile she wouldnt give me a number or schedule us so i gave her mine and went on my way. Miracle of smiling. She called us one hour later ( never happens ) and asked why are you smiling why are you so happy? tell me before i leave at 2:00 am to go back to mailland, tell me everything! I need to know. Your smile has changed my life for ever. No joke no lying. Crazy miracle. We see so many each and everyday!
D&C 6:20 Have righteous desires and hell encircle you with his love which is the most profound love of all. what more could you want.

I have faith in YOU! YES YOU> that you can be the change of the world, you can have an impact on thousands of lives, change someones downhill direction into a celestial glory and way of light and truth. You can be the change. It starts with you. I have the faith that you can do it? Do you?

First week in new area.

Family and Friends,

CRAZY ANOTHER WEEK HAS COME AND GONE HERE IN HONG KONG. I'VE HAD A NEW COMPANION FOR A WEEK ALREADY AND TIME HAS JUST FLOWN BY. WE ARE DOING GREAT. THE WORK IS GREAT. WE STARTED OUT WITH NO INVESTIGATORS, NOTHING AT ALL. BUT OVER THE PAST WEEK WE'VE SEEN SO MANY MIRACLES. DAILY, IT REALLY IS SUCH A BLESSING. ONE NAME, PANDA. HE'S A STUD. GOLDEN FORSURE. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM GROW AND LEARN IN THE GOSPEL. WE WENT FROM 0 TO 10, ALL IN 5 DAYS. SO AMAZING. THE PEOPLE ARE READY AND SO AM I. THE AREA IS AMAZING, SO DIFFERENT FROM YUEN LONG. I'M IN THE CITY NOW, SO WE NEVER SEE THE SAME FACE TWICE, SO WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE WE ARE GIVING EVERYONE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR THIS AMAZING MESSAGE WE HAVE TO SHARE. IT'S HARD WORK TO GET EVERYONE, BUT I LOVE IT. SO THANKFUL I CAN BE THE ONE SHARING THIS MESSAGE.

SO THESE ARE SOME THOUGHTS I'VE HAD AND WANTED TO SHARE (PART OF A LESSON I GAVE ) "RELATING PIONEERS TO TODAY" HAHA MY CANTONESE WAS AWFUL IN THIS LESSON, I WAS JUST MAKING WORDS UP HALF WAY THROUGH...

SOME MAY FEEL THAT THEIR LIVES ARE OF RELATIVE EASE AND CONVENIENCE, THEY LACK THE VIGOR AND FORTITUDE OF THOSE WHO SURVIVED THE PIONEER DAYS. THEY FEEL THAT THEY CAN NEVER MEASURE UP TO THE TOIL, STRUGGLES AND CHALLENGES OUR PIONEER ANCESTORS FACED AND EMERGE THE VICTOR. YET, OUR CHALLENGES ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THOSE OF THE PAST. OUR TESTING IS AS CRUCIAL, OUR CONTRIBUTIONS MAY BE AS GREAT, AN ESSENTIAL QUALITY OF THE FIRST PIONEERS WAS OPTIMISM. AN ABILITY TO SEE NEW POSSIBLITLIES IN A STRANGE AND UNSETTLING ENVIRONMENT. tO BEAUTIFY THE DESERT, THEY NEEDED FAITH IN GOD BUT THEY ALSO NEEDED FAITH IN THEMSELVES AND IN THEIR ABILITY TO HELP SHAPE THE WORLD. THE NEED FOR THAT FAITH HAS NOT DIMINSHED. A PIONEER IS NOT NECESSARILY A WOMAN WHO MAKES HER OWN SOAP, OR A MAN WHO GRUBS SAGEBRUSH FROM THE LAND. PIONEERS ARE THOSE WHO TAKE UP THEIR BURDENS AND WALK TOWARD THE FUTURE. WITH BISION AND WITH COURAGE THEY MAKE THE DESERT BLOSSOM AND THEY PRESS ON TOWARD NEW FRONTIERS. THE LORD EMPHASIZED THAT THESE PIONEERS HAD TRIALS AND CHALLENGES EVERY STEP OF THE WAY AND HE ALSO EMPASHIZED THAT THOSE CHALLENGES AND TRIALS WILL INCREASE EACH AND EVERY DAY. AS WE FACE THOSE TRIALS WE NEED TO STAND FIRM WITH UNSHAKEABLE FAITH THAT HE IS GIVING US THOSE TRIALS AND CHALLENGES TO GROW AND LEARN TO DEVELOP OUR TESTIMONY EVEN STRONGER THAN IT ALREADY IS TO BE THE MISSIONARY, LEADER, MOM, DAD, BROTHER , SISTER, FRIEND , THAT HE WANTS US TO BE. HE GIVES US ALL INDIVIDUAL CHALLENGES SO THAT WE CAN SHARE THEM WITH OTHERS THAT ARE IN SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES, TO HELP THEM GET THROUGH THOSE HARD TIMES. HE LOVES YOU AND YOU CAME DOWN ON EARTH TO BE TESTED, YOU CAME DOWN ON EARTH TO PASS THIS TEST WITH STRONGER FAITH AND COURAGE THAN ANY ONE ELSE. YOU CAME TO SHOW HIM THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO DO ANYTHING AND ACCOMPLISH ANY TASK THAT HE GIVES YOU. HE LOVES YOU AND WANTS THE BEST FOR YOU. I LOVE YOU AND I KNOW THAT EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU CAN DO IT, THAT YOU CAN DO ANYTHING, ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE BEST IN EVERYTHING AND LOVE EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING. IF YOU STAY POSITVE 24-7 THAN HE WILL BLESS YOU SO MUCH. HE WILL GIVE YOU THE ANSWERS YOUR ARE LOOKING FOR. LIKE PIONEERS, WE ARE ALSO GOING THROUGH THE PATHS AND ROCKY MOUNTAINS OF THE WORLD. WE ARE ALSO HAVING HARDSHIPS, DEATHS AND DISEASES. THIS WORLD IS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE EACH AND EVERY DAY. NEVER STOP PRAYING. NEVER STOP DEVELOPING YOUR TESTIMONY. ALWAYS ACHIEVE TO DO YOUR BEST SO YOU CAN LOOK BACK ON YOUR LIFE LIKE THE PIONEERS AND SAY, YOU GAVE IT YOUR BEST. LIVE LIFE WITH OUT REGRETS. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES BUT HTROUGH THIS GOSPEL THE BIGGEST MISTAKE CAN AND WILL BE FORGIVEN. HE PROMISES YOU THAT. HE LOVES YOU.

KWUN TONG IS AMAZING I LOVE IT. HERE ARE SOME PICTURES OF THIS PAST WEEK, WE HAD THE OPPORUTINTY TO PAINT A MEMBERS NEW APARTMENT FROM THAILAND, THEN THATS MY COMPANION AND I ON OCT 1, A HUGE FIREWORK SHOW AND HOLIDAY HERE IN HONG KONG, THE OTHER PICTURES ARE ME WITH MY BEST BUDDIES FROM THE WARD AND AROUND THE PARK.

MIRACLES WILL NEVER CEASE TO STOP HAPPENING AS LONG AS YOU (YES YOU ) ARE LOOKING FOR THEM.

LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH. I PRAY CONSTANTLY FOR ALL OF YOU. MISS ALL OF YOU.
SAMUEL 16:7

IM SO EXCITED TO WATCH CONFERENCE THIS WEEK IT'S DELAYED A WEEK HERE BECAUSE, I DONT KNOW WHY ACTUALLY. HAHA I WAS RAGING LAST WEEK THAT I DIDN'T GET TO SEE IT. PRAY THAT I UNDERSTAND SOMETHING HAHA. THE LANGUAGE IS SLOWLY COMING MORE AND MORE. MY COMPANION AND I JUST GET OWNED ALL THE TIME. WE ARE BOTH IN THE SAME AREA OF LEARNING, SO WE CAN TALK AND COMMUNICATE, BUT WHEN THEY RESPOND OR ASK US SOMETHING HAHA ALL WE CAN DO IS SMILE AND TESTIFY HAHA. IT WORKS THERES ONE LANGAUGE THAT WE CAN ALL SPEAK WHERE EVER WE ARE IN THE WORLD NO MATTER WHAT LANGUAGE WE SPEAK AND THATS THE LANGAUGE OF THE SPIRIT AND I'M SO THANKFUL FOR THAT. WHAT A BLESSING.

Short and Sweet

From: Jeffrey Romney Wright
Subject: New Shoes New Places New People New Perspective

Date: Thursday, September 30, 2010, 12:51 AM

Family and Friends,
Today was moves calls and boy was it crazy. A lot of changes in the mission. ALOT. We got our last set of elders and sisters that we'll have for awhile.
New Area: Kwun Tong
New Compaion: Elder Liu
Yes, my area got shut down, because there isn't enough missionaires to support all the areas here in hong kong. The mission is getting really, really, small CRAZY! So my companion and i are now the youngest companionship in the whole mission, so this will be a blast. The language area everything haha we are going to have a blast and are going to have to work hard so that we can do our best. I cant wait. We are both in very similar places with the language. He's a little better, so thats good. We can help each other and grow with each other. Should be good for both of us. I'm stoked. He is about 4 foot 11 inches, maybe if that. small guy. hes so tiny. I don't have much time to email this week, but promise a good one next week. We are sitting in an indonesian computer lab right now and i do not really understand a thing, let alone can i figure out the computer. Music is blasting, little children talking to me and dancing all around me, its sight to see. Haha. I will forsure miss Yuen Long and elder lee, he taught me so much. Love him. Thats all for now. Love you all. Remember why you are here and to smile everyday. The ward i left said the one thing that they learned from me is to always smile and be happy, to be grateful for everything that you have. It brought me to tears that i was able to teach them that and have an impact on their lives and i promise you can do that as well. Does not matter where you are, who you are, what you've done in the past, what lies ahead in the future, nothing. Just smile and love everything you are given. I pray for all of you and hope the best for all of you. I know that heavenly father loves you and knows you individually, he wants you to come unto him, to talk to him constantly and strive to have his companionship with you twenty four seven. I know that the book of mormon can and will answer any question that you have. It will give you a sense of belonging and comfort. I know that if you want to have the holy ghost with you all the time you need to always be repenting, twenty four seven, because we are always making mistakes. i cant concentrate i have 34905834905 indonesian and phillipino kids on me so im going to go and make a commitment to read the book of mormon daily. i know it will change your life. i know that you will be able to see a difference in your day. and always remember the covenants you took when you were baptized. Remember them and live up to them because not enough of us do.

Love

Do you want blessings?

Hello Daih ge ( EVERYONE ) ,

Well start with the spiritual part of the letter, Here it goes...

All of us will need his help to avoid the tragedy of procrastinating what we must do here and now to have eternal life. Ye cannot say when ye are brought to that awful crisis that i will repent that i will return to my god. Nay ye cannot say this for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world. Today is the day to repent, today is the day to change, not someday not tomorrow next week TODAY> It is hard to know when we have done enough fo rthe atonement to change our natures and so qualify us for eternal life. and we dont know how many days we will have to give the service necessary for that mighty change to come. but we know that we will have days enough if only we dont wast them. That assurance from the master can hlep those of us feeling over whelmed by our circumstances in the hardest trials, as long as you have the power to pray you can sak a loving god " please let me serve this day, it doesnt matter to me how few things i may be able to do. Just let me know what i can do. I will obedy htis day. I know that i can, with THY help."
The quiet invitition to you may be to do so simple a thing as to forgive someone who has offended you. YOu can do that from a hospital bed. It may be to go to help soeone who is hungry. You may feel overwhelmed by your own poverty and the labors of the day. But if you decide not to wait until you have more strength and more money and if you PRAY for the holy spirit as you go you WILL when you arrive tknow what to do and how to help someone even poorer than you are. NOt money poorer always, maybe spiritually poorer as well. You may find when you get there that they were praying and expecting that some one like YOU would come in the name of the lord.
For those who are discouraged by their circumstances and are therefore tempted to feel they cannot serve the lord this day, i make you two promises. Hard as things seem today, they WILL BE BETTER IN THE NEXT DAY IF YOU CHOOSE TO SERVE THE LORD THIS DAY WITH YOUR WHOLE HEART, your circumstances may not be improved in all the ways which you desire. But you will have been given new strength to carry your burdens and new confidence that when your burdens become too heavy the lord whom you have served will carry what you cannot. He knows how. He prepared long ago. He suffereed YOUR infirmities and your sorrows when he was in the flesh so that he would kow how to succor YOU.
The other promise that i make to you is that by choosing to serve him this day you will feel his love and grow to love him more. " I say unto you i would that ye should remember to retain the name written always in your hearts...that ye hear and know the voice by which ye shall be called and also the name by which he shall call you for how knoweth a man the msater whom he has not served and who is a stranger unto him and is far from the thoughts an dintents of his heart?" By serving him this day you will come to know him better and you WILL feel his love and appriciation. You would not want to delay receiving that blessing and feeling his love will draw you back to his service wi[ing away both complacency and discouragement. When you go to sleep each day you will hear " Well done thou good and faithful servant thou hast been faithful over a few things I LOVE YOU AND YOU SHALL BE BLESSED "

Some Questions?
******When was the last time you thanked the lord for a trial or tribulation? Adversity compells us to go to our knees: does gratitude for adversity do that as well???? ( MY FAVORITE QUESTION )

What does it profit us if we listen to wise counsel and do not head the words? Of what use is experience if we dont learn from it? What good are the scriptures if we do not cherish the words and incorporate them into ourlives.

This week from hong kong i had a week exchange because district leaders and zone leaders had meetings in wan chai all week so i had the privelage of being with elder maddux from Los angles and another elder wright from st, george ut. We had a blast and it was so much fun. We have had a lot of crazy storms this week. I can not belive that move two is over and this time next week i will have a new companion and possibly a new area. Crazy. Move THREE here i come. The language comes and goes. HHAAH really im positive that it just goes. IM loving every freakin day. Its been so much fun and im so grateful for the opportuinty that i have been given to serve my brother and father in heaven. i wouldnt ask to be anywhere else. Hong kong is great. I will miss elder lee a ton, i have learned so much from him and forsure will keep in contact with him. Hes a good man. Excited to see whos my next comp should be interesting. This move call will be the biggest in my mission. there will be a lot of changes. Closing areas and a lot of elders are going home and none coming should be intersting. Well our investigators are all doing great, really focusing on our 3 thousand less actives right now. Hard work and i love waking up each day to do it. Love you all and pray for you each and every day. Got attacked by a freakin dinosaur of a dog this week i was kicking it yelling at it waay intense elder lee ran like a chicken with his head cut off i honestly thought another dog ate him. He was so loud and high pitched i thought someone was dead. and let me tell you 911 is not the police here hahaha. Well thats all from hong kong for now. Next week Will be the start all over again. REmember who you are and why YOU are here ?

Love always,
Elder Wright
Pres Hinkley said " H.F. will shower down blessings upon those who walk in obedience to his commandments" How easy is that. DO you want blessing?

Family and Freakin Friends,
How is everyone doing? Know that i am constantly praying for each of you individually, you may not think so, but i am. I know that h.f. is aware of each of you, he loves each of you and wants the best for each of you. He doesn't want you to suffer, or be sad, depressed, or mad, he wants you to be happy and excited that he has given you another day to live. He wants you to live your life to its fullest potential and do your best, accomplishing all your goals and dreams you have set before yourself! He is with you every day and is there to give you the comfort and answers you are looking for. HE LOVES YOU> Know that. It's so important. We have dealt with a lot of less actives recently and its so hard, because every single one of them isn't going to church and wont bring their kids because they have been affected by other families. Either themselves, by parents or other member adults or their kids have been offended by member children. That does not matter, I tell you. Doesn't matter at all. You don't go to church to socialize, you go to focus on the gospel, to build your testimony and to take a break from the week and really focus on why you are here on earth at this time and what you can do better this next week. To come closer to your father in heaven. You can socialize monday through saturday. Don't ever be that person who offends anyone. Always love and except everyone. Just as christ loves you, he died for YOU. He forgave the men that nailed him to the cross, as they put the nails in his arms. Be quick to forgive and move on with the future. I love you all. Quick this week don't have much time left. But just know he loves you. He's aware of you and your indiviual concerns, trials and questions. He knows how you feel, because he died for YOU.

This week in hong kong has been great. Elder lee and i are doing unreal. Slayin it out here in Yuen Long. We have had some great weather this week and its been a blast to be out side. Lots of soccer! Might i say that I'm getting pretty darn good at soccer. haha. Investigators are all doing great. Still really working on our 2000 less actives compared to our 40 members. We have stake conference this week and I'm stoked because president chan will be speaking. Not that I will be able to understand him but I will be able to understand the spirit that he will have with him. There is one language that no matter where you are on the earth, what language they speak, what country your in, and that is the language of the spirit. So strong and so comforting. So let that spirit help you everyday. Let it guide you and comfort you. Live worthy of it and strive to always have it in every activity that you do.

A mission is the best thing that has happened to me, so grateful i can have this expirence and hope all young men can have it. I wasn't active growing up. I went to church because my family did, never had a testimony or desire, but i can honestly say that was the biggest freakin mistake i have ever made in my life! if all you young men are like me, change and change fast. Prepare for a mission, you may think it sounds boring and long time, but let me tell you.... its the funnest thing ever. You will have so much fun and not only will you have fun you will have the spirit at the same time. What more can you ask for. SO LEGIT> Keep working. Prepare now, I promise that all of you will love it and grow so much.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM love you so much hope you have an amazing day! you are my best friend mother everything! Everyone better call her do something maybe take her to lunch thatd be nice. Shes the best.

Dear Family and Friends,

A mothers divine love for her children is the strongest love on this earth today. A mothers love can bring a wayward child back to a good life, give him a sense of direction and let him know hes made mistakes in life, but she teaches him and loves him even more for those mistakes hes made. A mothers love can change the lives of her children and if used properly can impact not just her children, but thousands of heavenly fathers children. As my mothers love has done this for me. I'd first like to start by telling everyone I have the most amazing mother. She truely is my best friend. We have grown through the trials we've been given. Over the past few years we have become closer and closer each day. It has been such a blessing. She has taught me the meaning of life and so much more. When I think of christ like love the first thing that comes to my head is my mom, she loves everyone and accepts everyone for who they are and makes everyone her best friend, no matter what. Her sense of charity and service are unbeatable, she gives all that she has, even if it means we are to go into debt, she'll do it. Shes always so willing to give her all to make everyone else happy. I am so thankful that I can call her my mom and what a privledge that it is. I want to wish her the Happiest Birthday this coming week. MOM, I love you more than anything. Love you! Maybe i'll eat a piece of.............cow liver? chicken feet? pig testicles? for you on your birthday! YOU CHOOSE haha! love you mom!

News From the Front Lines:
1. Hectic start, at the beginning of the week we realized that all the missionaries in our apartment had tons of bug bites. 2 of 4 of us had over 100 plus bites. (never seen anything like it ) so we prayed to find out that all of our mattresses were filled with thousand of termites and huge fleas and leaches and centipedes and all sorts of crazy insects. So to say the least, it was quite the start and on top of it, to start the day it was 90 degrees with 100% humity. hahah we were lovin life! No a/c, no problems. We can just sweat to death. It was a blast I was laughing the whole time. We have two chinese elders and they hate heat and won't get near bugs, so needless to say when I threw them ( the bugs ) towards them they screamed and ran so fast. it was great.
2. The most spiritaul expierence so far in my mssion. We had 24 hour exchanges. I stayed in my area, but Elder Madux from my mtc younger district, came to be my companions. Hes way tight. It started on monday night, we decided to pick up the area book that elder lee and i have done a few times and make calls, elder lee and I have never got one answer. But we started with a prayer, we had faith in each other and started calling. EVERY SINGLE PERSON ANSWERED. Not only did they answer, they wanted to be scheduled and said they are ready for the gospel in their lives now. So thats just what we did. We scheduled them. In the morning, we met with a former investigator names " sofunny " ( dont ask how she got the name i dont get it haha ) she was a character. She treated us to a " yam cha " which is like a huge chinese breakfast, better than anything in america. As we were eating we taught her and her husband ( both in their 60s ) the first few lessons they had tons of questions and the miracle was they were receptive and we could answer all those questions and understand them in cantonese with my two months here and his 2 weeks here. Unheard of, but we did it with HF help. Gave bapt dates. and they accepted.WOW> Then we went contacting until the next lesson. We ran into a man and his wife. They came to us and said " Theres a light with you two and we want to know al,l" that never happens, no one ever comes up to you in Hong KOng, unless they are a mental crazy ( and theres a lot of crazies no joke ) scheduled him and his wife. Teaching them next week. Unreal. Kaylee and Mr Wong are the last lesson for the day until exchanges are over. This is the big one. She was taught in 2004 once by sisters and hated it, kicked them out. So before we left I had the immpression to get my oil and this paticular dvd and though I had to be crazy, both of us barely speak cantonese and it will be quite a challenge to teach her, let alone give a blessing. Her house is 50 minutes away and we had no idea where we were going, so we prayed, and hf helped us to know what bus station to get off. We walked around and finaly found her house through this massive jungle. Started by introducing ourselves and getting to know them. Then we showed her the dvd, she loved it. Then we had the impression to share our testimonies to her. She was pretty uneasy about it, so I said whats holding you back, what are you feeling right now. To find out she doesn feel good because shes not happy with life and then the spirit tells me to give a blessing NOW you crazy. I can't speak, let alone barely order a freakin bowl of rice... says it again. I say okay, I can't tell you what I said, but I can tell you the spirit was so strong and that so many miracles happed right then and everyone was bawling. That if You want miracles you need to live your life accordingly. You need to pick your game up right now. You can all have miracles if you live accordingly. Have faith never doubt and give it your all. I'll keep you updated with Kaylee and her Husband. UNbelieveable. Might I add a huge part of this was companionship. The difference to me was dramatic. I learned so much from both of them and know that elder lee is here to teach me about the culture and patience for the future, more than anything else. Trust hf knows what hes doing and always be looking for what you can learn wherever you are, at anytime anyday.

If we dont not have a deep foundation of faith and a siolid testimony of truth we may have difficult withstanding the harsh storms and icy winds of the adversity which inecvitabley come to each of us. Mortality is a period of testing, a time to prove ourselves worthy to return to the presence of our heavenly father. In order for us to be tested, we must face challenges and difficulties. These can break us and the surface of our souls my crack and crumble, that is if our foundations of faith and our testimonies of trust are not deeply embedded within us. In the search for our best selves several questions will guide our thinking.... Am i what i want to be? Am I closer to the savior today then I was yesterday? Will I be closer yet tomorrow? Do I have the courage to change for the better? The years have come and the years have gone, but the need for a testimony of the gospel continues paramount. As we move toward the future, we must not neglect the lessons of the past. Remember that you do not walk alone. As you walk through life always walk toward the light and the shadows of life will fall behind you. As I have turned to the scriptures for inspiration a particular one has stood out time and time again. The word is ' Come" the lord said, " Come unto me " " come learn of me " and " Come follow me " I like the word come and my plea is that we would all come to the lord every second of everyday.

i love you all. The time here in hong kong is going way to fast! I am doing amazing. Finding tons of new investigators and loving each and everyday!

Love you all so much!

Dear Family and Friends,

Another week has come and gone and yes I am still here in Hong Kong, loving each and every second I am given. What a blessing it is. The food seems to be really growing on me. I crave it at times ( not everything haha ) but a lot. This week we just had the wonderful opportunity to have pig hooves and chicken feet, mmm... some of my new favorite things. PHYSC> what are they thinking when they eat these things?? I have come to a postive conclusion that all the good meat gets shipped to America, while here in HONG KONG, we recieve all the left over with every peice of bone and organs and what not! Just thought I'd share that with you. I have started learning some chinese sign language, because our ward has a lot of deaf people. Well lets think about this, I can't even speak chinese yet, let alone, do sign language haahhaha. It's funny, if only you could see me on sundays trying to translate. Hahaha. wow. Funny things about the people of the asian areas. There singing capability..... hahahah, I love it! I videoed our ward kareoke night, you will all really enjoy this. I was bawling I was laughing so hard, but they were dead serious. There style is off the freakin walls, let me tell you that. Stripes, plaids, every single pattern all on one single human being! It's amazing they get let out side. Hair is very important to them, they LOVE their hair. Its been so fun getting use to this culture. There is not one thing I don't love about them. I love Hong Kong and everything about it. We should be having a baptism, Sept 12. We will see what happens, here name is Lisa and shes 28. All is good in hk loving each and every day!

Mosiah 4: 24 & 30
D&C 6:36
Look unto him in EVERYTHOUGHT, DOUBT NOT FEAR NOT!

Each of us will face trials and tests, it is how we react to those difficulties that will determine our success and happiness. Each of us will face adversity no matter where we are. We will each face times of difficulty and the question is not when we will face them, but how we face them. Paul remnded the saints that " all things work together for good to them that love god. Our heavenly father who loves us completely and perfectly permits us to have experiences that will allow us to develop the traits and attributes we need to become more and more christlike. Our trials come in many forms, but each will allow us to become more like the savior as we learn to recognize the good that comes from each experience. As we understand this doctrine we gain greater assurance of our fathers love. We may never know in this life why we face what we do, but we can feel confident that we can grow from the experience. Now I realize that it is much easier to look back, when a trial is over and see what we have learned from our experience. But the challenge is to gain the eternal perspective while we are going through our tests. Some of our trials may not seem great, but to each of us who are passing through these experiences, the trials are real and require us to humble ourselves before god and learn from him. Learn FROM HIM> Sometimes we pass through pain and sorrow that we might grow and be prepared for potential trials in the future. Instead of asking why me? or what did i do to deserve this? maybe the question should be, what am I to do? what can I learn? what am I to change? Christ got scourged and suffered so much. They smite him and he suffereth it. They spit on him and he suffereth it because of his loving and kindness and long suffering towards the children of men. We must always attempt to correct the problem and overcome it first! In our trials let us not become bitter and uncommitted, but let us follow the saviors example of becoming more earnest and more sincere and more FAITHFUL. Pres monson stated " I believe the savior is telling us that unless we lose ourselves in the service to others, there is little purpose to our own lives. Those who live only for themselves eventually shrivel up and figurativley lose their lives. While those who loose themselves in service to others grow and flourish and in effect save their lives" SERVE EVERYONE> and do this that " all things will work together for good to us that love god.

be safe. write me. hah. love you all. pray for you all individually. and hope the best for you all.!

August 25th letter from Elder Jeffrey Wright....

Family and Friends,
This week has been full of adventures and miracles. The miracles never seize to amaze me. Everyday we are given so many opportunties to bless the lives of our fellow brothers and sisters and what a great blessing that is. Elder Lee and I had a rocky last two weeks but we sat down talked everything out. He didnt have a desire to do the work any more and hasnt for the past year because he believes there is no success in missionary work in hong kong ( his naitive country ) i talked to him for a long time and really encouraged him and told him through faith in christ and heavenly father anything is possible. He has been in this area in which we are right now for 7 months with the same investiagators so i decided that we were going to drop all of them because i would consider them eternal investiagtors and we prayed that hf would bless us with new investiagators that were ready to hear the gospel. With in 6 hours of that prayer and developing more unity we had 6-10 brand new investigators all ready and willing to listen. What a miracle one simple thing can do. The food is the same better than ever haha! Lovin it everyday! The people are doing great more sassy and angry with the world than they ever have been and i love them so much. Really i do. I am doing great i love serving it is honestly the best decision that i have ever made in my life. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time. I have seen so many miracles from smiling and hope that you are all smiling as well!

Mathew 11:28
" Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and i will give you rest" its easy as that to come unto him in prayer to talk to him and he will give you the comfort and answers in which you desire. He loves you. He died for YOU never forget that.

"For it must needs that there is opposition in all things " 2 Nephi 2:11
In all things, you will have trials everyday EVERYONE will, get through them together thats the reason we have family and friends, thats why we are here on earth with them at this time.

* Remember never let any earthly circumstanes disable you spiritually!!!

How we disagree is a real measure of who we are and whether we truely follow the Savior.

St. Mathew 18:3-6
Look unto the children as an example and the attributes in which they all carry, which one can you improve on this week? Are you quick to forgive? Do you treasure the little things in life? Do you show your love towards everyone though matter what they look like or what they wear, or what religious beliefs or cultures they come from? Are you as charitable to give anything? Do you look unto others to learn and grow? First to say sorry? Christ loves children because they are the ones who show his attributes unto the world, if we want to enter " the kingdom of god " we need to be as humble and meek as the children we see in our daily lives.

Scriptures to Read:
3 Nephi 12:39-42 ( Give and do as christ would, are we not here to follow in his footsteps? )
2 Nephi 26:33
3 Nephi 12:44-45 ( But behold i say unto you love your enemies bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you. That ye may be the children of your father who is in heaven for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good )
3 Nephi 12:24 ( A lot of members fall away because of other members, do NOT let this affect you " spiritually or physically ". Be the first to apologize and move on. Life is to short for the small things, whether its done to you, your children, or a close friend. Let it go )
D&C 127:2

Love you all, Be safe, thanks for everything you do for me! haha Have fun at school everyone ! PHYSC!
love elder wright!

ps. who are we kidding its 90 degrees here and 100 percent humity, its awful and i love it. i wear 21304909 different white shirts a day. haha. bless my heart.

( this talk has impacted my life substanially and i hope it will do the same to you and you will learn and grow from it as i have. To be the bigger person, accept and love everyone and be as christ would be.....highlighted some of my favorite parts! )
As disciples of Jesus Christ, our Master, we are called to support and heal rather than condemn.

A story is told that during the bombing of a city in World War II, a large statue of Jesus Christ was severely damaged. When the townspeople found the statue among the rubble, they mourned because it had been a beloved symbol of their faith and of God’s presence in their lives.
Experts were able to repair most of the statue, but its hands had been damaged so severely that they could not be restored. Some suggested that they hire a sculptor to make new hands, but others wanted to leave it as it was—a permanent reminder of the tragedy of war. Ultimately, the statue remained without hands. However, the people of the city added on the base of the statue of Jesus Christ a sign with these words: “You are my hands.”
We Are the Hands of Christ

There is a profound lesson in this story. When I think of the Savior, I often picture Him with hands outstretched, reaching out to comfort, heal, bless, and love. And He always talked with, never down to, people. He loved the humble and the meek and walked among them, ministering to them and offering hope and salvation.
That is what He did during His mortal life; it is what He would be doing if He were living among us today; and it is what we should be doing as His disciples and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On this beautiful Easter morning, our thoughts and hearts are drawn to Him—the Hope of Israel and the Light of the World.
As we emulate His perfect example, our hands can become His hands; our eyes, His eyes; our heart, His heart.
Our Hands Can Embrace

I am deeply impressed by the way our Church members extend themselves to others. As we hear of your selfless sacrifice and overwhelming compassion, our hearts swell with gratitude and happiness. You are a shining light to the world, and you are known for your goodness and compassion all around the globe.
Unfortunately, from time to time we also hear of Church members who become discouraged and subsequently quit coming to and participating in our Church meetings because they think they don’t fit in.
When I was a young boy, during the aftermath of World War II, Germany was broken and in ruins. Many people were hungry, sick, and dying. I remember well the humanitarian shipments of food and clothing that came from the Church in Salt Lake City. To this day, I can still remember the smell of the clothing, and I can still taste the sweetness of the canned peaches.
There were some who joined the Church because of the goods they received at that time. Some members looked down on these new converts. They even called them an offensive name: Büchsen Mormonen, or “Canned-Food Mormons.” They resented these new members because they believed that once their temporal needs had been met, they would fall away.
While some did leave, many stayed—they came to church, tasted the sweetness of the gospel, and felt the tender embrace of caring brothers and sisters. They discovered “home.” And now, three and four generations later, many families trace their Church membership back to these converts.
I hope that we welcome and love all of God’s children, including those who might dress, look, speak, or just do things differently. It is not good to make others feel as though they are deficient. Let us lift those around us. Let us extend a welcoming hand. Let us bestow upon our brothers and sisters in the Church a special measure of humanity, compassion, and charity so that they feel, at long last, they have finally found home.
When we are tempted to judge, let us think of the Savior, who “loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. …
“[And] he saith: Come unto me all ye ends of the earth, … [for] all men are privileged the one like unto the other, and none are forbidden.”1
As I read the scriptures, it appears that those who receive the Savior’s strongest reproach are often those who hold themselves in high esteem because of their wealth, influence, or perceived righteousness.
On one occasion the Savior taught a parable of two men who went into the temple to pray. One man, a respected Pharisee, prayed: “God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.”
The other man, a hated publican, stood “afar off, [and] would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.”
And Jesus said, “I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other.”2
In truth, we “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”3 We are all in need of mercy. In that last day when we are called to the judgment bar of God, do we not hope that our many imperfections will be forgiven? Do we not yearn to feel the Savior’s embrace?
It seems only right and proper that we extend to others that which we so earnestly desire for ourselves.
I am not suggesting that we accept sin or overlook evil, in our personal life or in the world. Nevertheless, in our zeal, we sometimes confuse sin with sinner, and we condemn too quickly and with too little compassion. We know from modern revelation that “the worth of souls is great in the sight of God.”4 We cannot gauge the worth of another soul any more than we can measure the span of the universe. Every person we meet is a VIP to our Heavenly Father. Once we understand that, we can begin to understand how we should treat our fellowmen.
One woman who had been through years of trial and sorrow said through her tears, “I have come to realize that I am like an old 20-dollar bill—crumpled, torn, dirty, abused, and scarred. But I am still a 20-dollar bill. I am worth something. Even though I may not look like much and even though I have been battered and used, I am still worth the full 20 dollars.”
Our Hands Can Comfort

With this in mind, let our hearts and hands be stretched out in compassion toward others, for everyone is walking his or her own difficult path. As disciples of Jesus Christ, our Master, we are called to support and heal rather than condemn. We are commanded “to mourn with those that mourn” and “comfort those that stand in need of comfort.”5
It is unworthy of us as Christians to think that those who suffer deserve their suffering. Easter Sunday is a good day to remember that our Savior willingly took upon Himself the pain and sickness and suffering of us all—even those of us who appear to deserve our suffering.6
In the book of Proverbs we read that “a friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”7 Let us love at all times. And let us especially be there for our brothers and sisters during times of adversity.
Our Hands Can Serve

An old Jewish legend tells of two brothers, Abram and Zimri, who owned a field and worked it together. They agreed to divide both the labor and the harvest equally. One night as the harvest came to a close, Zimri could not sleep, for it didn’t seem right that Abram, who had a wife and seven sons to feed, should receive only half of the harvest, while he, with only himself to support, had so much.
So Zimri dressed and quietly went into the field, where he took a third of his harvest and put it in his brother’s pile. He then returned to his bed, satisfied that he had done the right thing.
Meanwhile, Abram could not sleep either. He thought of his poor brother, Zimri, who was all alone and had no sons to help him with the work. It did not seem right that Zimri, who worked so hard by himself, should get only half of the harvest. Surely this was not pleasing to God. And so Abram quietly went to the fields, where he took a third of his harvest and placed it in the pile of his beloved brother.
The next morning, the brothers went to the field and were both astonished that the piles still looked to be the same size. That night both brothers slipped out of their houses to repeat their efforts of the previous night. But this time they discovered each other, and when they did, they wept and embraced. Neither could speak, for their hearts were overcome with love and gratitude.8
This is the spirit of compassion: that we love others as ourselves,9 seek their happiness, and do unto them as we hope they would do unto us.10
True Love Requires Action

True love requires action. We can speak of love all day long—we can write notes or poems that proclaim it, sing songs that praise it, and preach sermons that encourage it—but until we manifest that love in action, our words are nothing but “sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.”11
Christ did not just speak about love; He showed it each day of His life. He did not remove Himself from the crowd. Being amidst the people, Jesus reached out to the one. He rescued the lost. He didn’t just teach a class about reaching out in love and then delegate the actual work to others. He not only taught but also showed us how to “succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.”12
Christ knows how to minister to others perfectly. When the Savior stretches out His hands, those He touches are uplifted and become greater, stronger, and better people as a result.
If we are His hands, should we not do the same?
We Can Love as He Does

The Savior revealed the perfect priorities for our lives, our homes, our wards, our communities, and our nations when He spoke of love as the great commandment upon which “hang all the law and the prophets.”13 We can spend our days obsessing about the finest details of life, the law, and long lists of things to do; but should we neglect the great commandments, we are missing the point and we are clouds without water, drifting in the winds, and trees without fruit.14
Without this love for God the Father and our fellowmen we are only the form of His Church—without the substance. What good is our teaching without love? What good is missionary, temple, or welfare work without love?
Love is what inspired our Heavenly Father to create our spirits; it is what led our Savior to the Garden of Gethsemane to make Himself a ransom for our sins. Love is the grand motive of the plan of salvation; it is the source of happiness, the ever-renewing spring of healing, the precious fountain of hope.
As we extend our hands and hearts toward others in Christlike love, something wonderful happens to us. Our own spirits become healed, more refined, and stronger. We become happier, more peaceful, and more receptive to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit.
With all my heart and soul I give thanks to our Heavenly Father for His love for us, for the gift of His Son, for the life and example of Jesus the Christ, and for His sinless and selfless sacrifice. I rejoice in the fact that Christ is not dead but risen from the grave! He lives and has returned to the earth to restore His authority and gospel to man. He has given us the perfect example of the kind of men and women we should be.
On this Easter Sunday, and every day, as we contemplate with reverence and awe how our Savior embraces us, comforts us, and heals us, let us commit to become His hands, that others through us may feel His loving embrace. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
